    bmw coupe 135 i

    Anyone has tried the bmw coupé 135i that came out this year?
    306 horses and 0-100 in 5.3 sec seems interesting..

    Yes - it's fast, comfortable, well built, well balanced with a typically excellent BMW engine. But it isn't a sports car and can't hold candle to the razor sharp Cayman. Of course, you have to pay an awful lot more money for the performance equivalent - a Cayman 2.7 is nowhere near as quick (in a straight line) and the Cayman S is a lot more money.

    Yes, I almost bought one. Very impressive power and torque. I felt the steering was a bit lacking in feel and the suspension could use some tuning. Nice 6spd manual gearbox - the big Brembos are seriously overboosted though (hard to modulate).

    However, the power is easily the most obvious feature of this car!

    I tried one just to see if I could go back to BMW (had a 328i sedan till 2005). I agree with Grant re. its feel; also has no limited slip diff; so a brief drive on dirt (to simulate winter...) proved that it became one-wheel drive very quickly with that power. As I have become used to all 4 wheels powering my Subaru rallycar, and have come to really enjoy snowy driving in this car, it just proved that my next German car is an Audi.. mit Quattro.

    Overall the 135 seems the perfect 3 series for those who feel that this type of car is becoming just too big (but unfortunately it is still quite heavy).

    I have a Cayman S and am considering trading in towards a 135i. Reason is 4 seaters (have 2 little ones). However, whenever I drive my croc it just feels not right to go backwards to a beemer. What do you think about this?

    Oh yes, the croc is our third car (one family car, one cy car and the croc). So if I keep the croc I will have to continue to use it as my personal car only.

     I also tried the 135, which I think is an excellent car, but the Cayman is just in another league

    When I eventually part company with my Boxster probably 2010, the 135i is favourite to replace it because we need to come down to 2 cars, so SWMBO would drive the 135i as her daily drive (we'd trade the Boxster and her Honda Jazz in for it) - she needs an auto. I would retain my current BMW 123d for my 80 miles a day round trip daily commute. 

    Yes I know I could buy a Boxster S / Cayman S PDK but can't justify £50k + for a new car anymore, Smiley and I doubt by my planned change date pre-owned PDK 987.2's will be down to that price by then.

     Apparently a lot of people are making "adjustments", nobody knows how bad things are going to get next year, even if some seem to be optimistic.

    I'm going myself through an extensive thinking and evaluation process right now. We have two Porsche, one is our daily family car (Cayenne Turbo S), the other one is my "toy" car (997 Turbo) and I hardly use it. It is only 2 1/2 years old and has already 31000 km on it but I have less and less time to drive it, so it just sits most of the time in our garage for nothing.

    The idea was to get rid of the 997 Turbo and Cayenne Turbo S and get one Porsche only instead.  I need a Porsche I can drive to work too, so the 997 Turbo is a no go, especially during this financial crisis when customers may feel offended by a very expensive toy in front of your business.

    So I'm thinking about getting a Panamera or Cayenne Turbo S Facelift (my customers are already used to our Cayenne family car). Of course I would miss the 997 Turbo, this is why I haven't made the decision yet. Difficult situation.
