Nardo High-speed test in German AMS

Today's issue. All cars very slow...

    Audi R8 V10 0-300km/h: 46.4s

    Aston Martin V12 Vantage 0-300km/h: 68.5s

    Porsche 997.2 GT3 0-300km/h: 52.6s

    Lamborghini Murcielago 0-300km/h: 29.9s

    Cadillac CTS-V 0-300km/h: 94s

    Mercedes SLR 0-300km/h: 30.8s

The Lambo performance is excellent Smiley Also, the SLR is all right.

I am a bit disappointed with the GT3 result, though Smiley That would be approx, 8-10s slower than a 997TT.

Re: Nardo High-speed test in German AMS

BTW, the AMS article states that the NISSAN GTR could not succesfully participate in the test as its engine blew after one fast lap. No kidding.

This GTR is really a funny product Smiley

P.S.: One of the two GTR owners I know has some legal dispute with Nissan now as his rear axle screwed after approx. 5000km...

True...Smiley I know even more about it. Just this-engine dead beyond repair.

Re: Nardo High-speed test in German AMS

Gearing... Ratios in fifth and sixth are very long.

What sort of dispute at 5000km? They didn't honour the warranty due to tracking, ESP OFF etc?

They mentioned it at the very end of the article. I re-read the sentence as I couldn´t believe it (the comment, less so the reliability issue). Smiley

Sounds interesting Smiley Let's discuss this in more detail Smiley

Re: Nardo High-speed test in German AMS

Well think its AMS's fault for not asking for half a dozen spare GT-R's when taking the GT-R to the track and performing such tests, didn't they read the Sport Auto Supertest? what were they thinking in bringing along just one GT-R for the test?

That would actually make for a good advert.

"The Nissan GT-R. Once you have one, you'll need more."

Re: Nardo High-speed test in German AMS

    BTW, don't get me wrong.

I'm not against GT-R and believe the Suzuka Sun's lap record and think that it is possibly.

However, quality and reliablity are other issues than just one or two laps around a track.

Which proves to me what I was suspecting from the start. You can't offer such a car for so little money without making compromises.

For comparison: I personally know at least three 997 Turbo drivers who have tuned cars, raced them on the track on a regular basis, have between 20000 and 50000 km on the speedo and their cars never saw a repair shop.

So true Smiley As mentioned above one of the two GTR owners I know has a dispute with Nissan as his rear axle broke after some 5000km. The other GTR owner I will meet in October for a little track event. I will post his experience to date with the GTR then.

Re: Nardo High-speed test in German AMS

Two GT-R's for the price of one TT is not a good deal

I hope that continues to be the norm with the wet-sump 9A1 motor in 2010...
