Maybe its a blessing in disguise.
Hopefully manufacturers can only get thin steel in the future and only 18" wheels. Then perhaps our cars will weight 1200kg and be fun/challenging to drive at 100kmph through the windy roads. Heck, maybe the ECUs that run the dual clutch boxes wont be available and it would be manual gearbox only option again!
For many it would be the dark ages. Throw in the "pandemic" and it will be like the mid 1300s again. Heck, Downunder we only just got to the modern age. I think we still remember how to fix things and make stuff.
A few years of Mad Max would probably do us all some good. If the Plague cant reduce our numbers significantly perhaps a period of forced technology deprivation would be a good fix. Our kids would learn to make go-karts and tree houses and solve problems.
Maybe instead of paying 1000s for an Apple product we can produce 1000 apples from our garden.
We cheat nature with science no every time. Perhaps China shutting their doors will be a good thing. No pain no gain....
Half in jest of course.
