    controlling windows from key

    is there any way to control the windows from the key/remote??

    i thought i read this somewhere, but don't know how to work it.

    You just have to keep the remote button pressed when closing or opening the car.
    The windows will slide up or down as long as you keep the buttons pressed.
    At least this was the procedure for 996 and 986 cars.

    I dont think it is possible with US Spec cars...I have not tried on mine yet but im almost sure you cant due to safety issues...

    But it is a shame because I had it on my VW Corrado VR6 Storm years back .

    I often to get the Mrs head caught in the passenger window .. Poor thing..

    Safety issue my butt. The 2006 Cayenne has the feature. The auto-up feature on the R/S window is also useless because it doesn't kick in until the window is more then half closed. Two of the things I miss from my 996.

    Are these things not software settings, that are defaulted one-way for certain countries or areas, and another for others?

    For example, by default, the 'lock doors when travelling faster than 5mph' feature is disabled on UK cars, but you can go to your dealer and get them to change it.

    I would assume (as the cars are basically the same) that if these particular window features are not enabled on US cars that the problem may more be one of the dealers not being allowed to enable them, rather than it being physically impossible.

    thanks for the responses, though i doubt it's a safety issue as many a production car has that feature now

    update: so putting the key in the door lock i was able to roll down the windows. still no ability to roll up?

    please confirm for those that said they can do it, they are doing it from remote, correct?

    I found it....it's option AWO for automatic window operation, $350 per side for 2006 models.

    I don't know about an '05 but on my '06 997 you can't raise/lower the windows or close the sun roof with either the key or the remote. The service mgr. at my dealer told me there is no PIWIS option to activate either feature.

    the key works well only for opening the windows whenever hold pressed.
