Since when does the Carrera have a wing? It has only a deployable "wing", so if he means that?

I can't exclude that Porsche will show the 911 R with a ducktail to make US customers happy but I hope they don't. This car looks so beautiful without any wing...

Well, I should have written spoiler.

Yes, you should. Please don't make such blatant mistakes again which the forum admin needs to correct.

So your GT4 has a spoiler in the rear. Interesting. I thought you love wings? Smiley

the red stripes, the yellow calipers and the black decals are a total disaster to my eyes

I'd like one without any stripes or decals please

    KresoF1:

    Also, short geared 6 speed?

Gearbox is actually geared pretty long, especially 5th and 6th since max speed is 323km/h.

Right - It can't truly have low gears, since it goes 200 mph at 8,250 (where 500 hp is made), but this is slightly lower gearing than GT4 which goes 183 mph at 7,400.  BTW, this is 8 mph (13 kph) faster than RS (NA Autobahn king), due to aero.  Hopefully the spread of gears is a little sportier than GT4.

I am sure they chose the 6 speed because it shifts so nicely, but the 7 spd (properly geared) would have added quite a bit more performance.

It does have more torque to weight than GT4 (to go with much better power to weight), so it will be quicker in every gear (for double the price).  Looks like R weighs only 5 kg more than GT4.

Probably true, since the 7 spd uses the PDK case.

    model yr 1967  : 911R  ....50 model yrs later ...2017 911R

    my prediction :

model yr 1969  : 911E , the "E" derived from the German word for "injected" ...50 model yrs later ...2019 911E , the E this time signifying the  "E"lectric battery in its hybrid motor system and if the newly introduced turbo motors in the 2017 991.2 persist in the 992 initially ,  this allows the hybrid models to be sold alongside as 991E and 911E S  and 911E GTS .

Eventually , when full electric 911 arrives , the turbos probably go away, the hybrids become base propulsion system , and drop the E badging , passing that to the full-electric  version .....very simple and logical ....right ?

What about peak power and redline ? I'm sure it will be lower than PDK which saves your motor from blowing up due to wrong downshifts, not to mention, the noobs that will get one and do some adventures before reselling it  angry

Peak power is 8,250.  Redline looks like 8,600 on the tach, but probably same 8,800 rpm fuel cutoff like RS.

According to Whoopsy ' s info there will be more NA engines , in the 991.2 GT3  and in the 991.2 GT3 RS

991.2 GT3 yes. 992.2 GT3 RS not 100% sure, maybe 80% (developing is rolling but...). 991 GT2 RS quite sure (and much more than just a current 991.2 Turbo S without AWD).

    991 R engine using 991.2 GT3 tech...surprise surprise.

Sorry RC, the engine in the R is exactly the one in the RS, no 991.2 GT3 tech. The 991.2 GT3 engine will be derived from the GT3R race engine with a completely new oiling system when compared with the current GT3/GT3RS engine.

the next GT3 RS IS coming, the GT2 or the GT2RS is actually the not so sure part. If they do indeed do a GT2, then it will be a GT2RS

Interesting - I thought the RS and 2016 GT3 already used a new oiling system compared to the first year GT3.  Any guess how it will be different.  Will 991.2 GT3 be 4.0L?  Choice of gearboxes from start?  Thanks!

Nope, a lightweight full GT3 specs cab or real targa with back seats and PDK. Think a marriage between a California and a 458SA...
