Whoopsy:More like trying to showcase that V6TT so they can sell more F150 with that engine.

Don't know if this is true or not
Updated 2017 Ford GT Details: 720 HP, $599,695 Sticker Price, And 23 Highway MPG
Originally, Forza Motorsport 6 had stated the Ford GT would make 630 horsepower and 539 foot-pounds of torque, but per Ford the GT will make 720 horsepower, although no actual torque rating has yet been revealed.
The new American hypercar will weigh as low as 2,550 pounds and complete the standing quarter-mile in 9.4 seconds at 170 miles per hour, making it the quickest and fastest drag-racing production car in the world.
It reached a top speed of 203.48 mph at the Mulsanne Straight and 197.83 mph at the other Mulsanne side of Circuit de la Sarthe, which computes to an average top speed of 200.65 mph.
With 720 horsepower out of a 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged 'EcoBoost' V6, the GT will possibly have the highest horsepower-per-liter ratio of any American production car.
The Ford GT will be available later this year with a manufacturer-suggested retail price of $599,695, which makes the GT the most expensive production car Ford will make.

Good news for me. This certainly means there won't be another Ford Mustang GT500. I doubt that Ford would risk making the new GT look bad (look...the Mustang GT500 has the same engine but a few horses less...) and since this car has a twin turbo charged V6, even a new GT500 would have an engine derived from this one, so good news for me.

sfo:really $600,000???
Don't worry, I think my respiration stopped for half a minute when I saw this price tag.
Ford wants to promote a supercar and maybe they are successful. If demand is high enough and production limited.... However, this could go the other way as well. 600k USD for a bi-turbo V6 with 720 hp? This doesn't really feel right.

JoeRockhead:sfo:Lars997:If people pay 800k for an 918, why should Ford not charging 600k?
one is a Ford, the other is a Porsche
Porsche knows that people are willing to pay $200 for painted wheel crests, while Ford buyers aren't so stupid.
Until now...

Isn't that what Ferrari said at Le Mans in the 60's before having their butts kicked?

I don't know, you could spend $600K on GT and sell it in a couple of years for a over a million. Maybe sooner.

This would be actually the only incentive to buy one but what if the calculation doesn't work out and prices tank? I know, I know, not very likely and if you have tons of money, you won't even care but...
Just imagine Trump wins the presidential election, interest rates go up through the roof and people do not invest in cars anymore?
Naahhh....I think getting a Ford GT as an investment would be a good bet, especially since Ford doesn't plan to make many of these.

I will admit that I benefitted greatly from ZIRP/NIRP that inflated the value of my Carrera GT to the point wherein I could swap it for my 918. Quite a feat of automotive progress!
However, ZIRP/NIRP-forever reminds me of turning up the boost past the point of no return and expecting the thrill to last beyond a few more laps.

Some info (new?) on the application process needed to move up Ford's list. Might be easier to get a 911R....

The social media thingie is interesting...Ford apparently wants "public" persons to brag about the car, good for image.
So where is my 911 R, Porsche? (relax, Porsche...before you contact me: I cannot afford one right now, sorry.

He is not the only one, most of the 918 owners who applied did't get one saved for a couple, who have big companies that uses Ford cars/trucks for the longest time.
The ones that most likely get a Ford GT are the gigantic fleet buyers, those that buy hundreds if not thousands of F150s a year in fleet purchase. Everyone I know who do that got one.
So apparently Ford does not want to giva a GT to a guy who makes a video about how much he loves this car, another one on how much money he made on the car till the day, a third one where he tracks it as it was built to be and the fourth one that explains why he had to sell the car and how much he finally earned with it. I didn't see that one coming
Then again Salomondrin will get his hands on a GT for sure. He is not the only one who ditches supercars after several months of ownership...
