Re: Questions about Gt2 low end throttle
Well, don't forget that we compared the GT2 to the Turbo. And I wouldn't really use the word "sluggish". Yes, it has something to do with the slower spool up of the turbos but gearing is the same, despite the fact that the gear ratio is a bit longer due to the GT2 wheels. Forget the word sluggish, compared to other turbo charged cars, the boost comes on pretty quick but not as quick as on the 996 Turbo. It might be just a little difference but don't forget that we're talking about a power difference of almost 50 HP. I suppose the GT2 is pretty easily driveable on US roads (why not ?) and it is surely no big deal on the Autobahn. BUT ... you have to be an experienced driver. I wouldn't let an 18 year old with a brand new driver's license drive the GT2. And I wouldn't let anybody drive the GT2 who didn't drive a high power sportscar before. The GT2 is NOT made especially for the track (one reason some GT2 owners make complaints about track capability) but also for street driving. Porsche has a long tradition of making all their cars, especially from the past few years, very driveable on the street too. If you owned a 996 Turbo before, driving the GT2 is some advancement but no big deal. Of course one shouldn't forget the missing 4WD/PSM. The only thing I never liked about the GT2 is ... it's price tag. Way too much money, making out of the 996 Turbo almost a bargain.
