    VW/Audi cannibalism

    I know VW has the powerd to do anything they want with Audi, but this just makes no sense. They took all of the details and styling cues that made the A5 an interesting car (except for the imppecable proportions) and made this mini version badged as an VW. IMO this is SO audi that if they had released it as one they could've easily call it an A3 coupe, get away with it and sell a bunch of them really fast. Even the front lights follow the newest design trend that the E-Tron is setting.

    Don't be snobbish. Not everyone has the $40K+ for an A5.

    What, people of moderate means can't have an attractive A5 knock-off?

    It's much better design execution than the Japanese/Korean German impersonators.

    I have no problem with it - I'd actually probably get one if it's a half decent driver and performer if the price point is right.

     I never said i didn't like it. I love the A5, so i like this too. Im just pointing out that the line is becoming blurry between what division of VW is doing what.

    I saw it, looks very serious. Somewhat Audi for sure, especially the interior. These guys know how to make mad cash using the same parts-shelves. I have no problem with this. It has always been VW < Audi < Porsche. Instead of having different trims so to speak they have entire different brands.

    As for the car i really like it, looks very mature and clean. Hoping if its RWD then it interests me.

    I like the car but VW interiors have traditionally be shi**y. I like that it's a hybrid too. Cheap commuter car.

    Now having owned a Passat and an A4, which are both essentially the same car - that I can agree with.

    VW's interiors are crappy and they really need to step it up considering how amazing Audi's interiors are.

    Dropped by my VW dealer on the way home from work, hoping to put a deposit down on the NCC. They told me that they had no info, to expect maybe 2 years, and that they thought that a 4-door new Jetta would come out first Smiley

    So far, it is only a concept. Whether debuting as a four-door variant or coupe is unclear to me. One should not forget that the leading character at VW´s design is de Silva who was in charge for the A5 and sees the later as his best design (can´t find the link right now). For de Silva, the expression on a car is the most essential element which translates into precise styling for front and taillights and details, something that is also perfectly visible on the Alfa 156 front.

    What surprises me much more are the styling cues from BMW, both in the Hofmeister element at the C-pillar and the surface treatment of the side panels.

    Got to say, whilst I like the A5, this looks like a much better and neater design.
