Re: Gallardo Spyder - Metal Grinding then Oil EVERYWHE
haha I keep seeing this thread pop up, figure I should drop in and respond.
The car was out of commission for a month. The factory didn't tighten several bolts on one of the output shafts, the bolts flew out while I was driving. They tore through the power steering line and an oil line among other things. I cut the engine off before it lost all of its oil so the engine was actually totally fine. The dealer replaced the lines, properly tightened all bolts, filled the engine back up with oil and it started up without a problem.
Everything was covered under warranty, but this was apparently the first car in the US with the problem. Others soon followed and Lamborghini issued a service campaign to check the torque on all of the drive shaft bolts on the cars.
The car has been running fine ever since. My dealer handled everything wonderfully (Lamborghini Ohio), although I hear that Lamborghini didn't want to reimburse them for all of the expenses at first. Everything eventually got sorted out, I was just glad it didn't happen at higher speeds.
