    Trade for 997S

After 7 NA Porsches in 27 years I am looking for a nice 996 Turbo. I have a near perfect '05 997S ,blk/blk, full leather, PCCB, Nav, Bose, Sport Chrono, PASM, heated adaptive sport seats, dimming mirrors, with new tires etc. - to trade. Warranty to 9/08. I do cover many hwy miles so it has 42K but it is a proven daily driver. Looks and drives like it just left the showroom. This was a launch car with a 100K sticker. Anyone interested please send me a PM. I would also like to start a discussion about the relative merits of such a trade (for either party). I am doing this because I have always wanted a Turbo and the extra urge it provides (although the 997S is no slouch).

Anyway, if you are thinking of trading your Turbo for a 997S and want to cut out the middleman this may work out for both of us.

    Cheers!

    Re: Trade for 997S

I used to live in leawood (pv actually), gl with the deal, might be better off just trading it in at a dealer for a cpo car or selling it pvt, miles are too high for most folks I think. My '03's got 60k and you got me beat!

Have you test driven a Turbo yet?

Nice to hear from you ex-neighbor. You know the local dealer is out of the picture with me. Enough said. I could sell it privately but I am trying to avoid the sales tax on the subsequent purchase. All those used turbos on eBay and dealers come from someone - just trying to find someone with a interest in a nice 997 S. Yes the miles are high but it is fully depreciated and for a couple of $k you can get a warranty that will exceed the new car warranty. If you want to add miles to this car they will be guilt free and cheap compared to a new car. - If someone just wants to buy it I am open to that.

I owned a 996 for 5 years but I have not driven a Turbo allthough I have been blown away by a few on the road. I have driven many of the old air cooled turbos.

Several members have stated that they liked the "S" better than the 996 Turbo, that's why I asked. Don't buy the car without driving it first, or you could regret it.

    Re: Trade for 997S

I have read the same thing and it is for this reason that some members with a 996 turbo might be looking to trade. Thanks for your concern.

    Re: Trade for 997S

I've driven 996 Turbo on track, and unless you are doing illegal speeds it is quite boring to drive. It definitely has street presence, but then so does the 997s and that's fun to drive all the time.

If I had to own one, I'd pick the 997s everytime - make sure you have a good test drive in a 996 Turbo before buying one!

While I wouldn't call driving the Turbo "quite" boring at legal speeds, I will say that in stock form the 996 Turbo is "softer" than it should be.

With the X73 suspension, B&M short shifter, and aftermarket exhaust the Turbo is a completely different animal...one that isn't CLOSE to boring. But that's the beauty of owning a the Turbo...it can be modified to just about any target the owner is looking for.

The modifications I've made to my Turbo has created a sports car that is engaging, hard-edged, and just a blast to drive...even at legal speeds.

    My mods...

    X73 suspension
    B&M short shifter
    Europipe Stage 2 Loud exhaust
    EVO Stage 2
    EVO intake
    GT3 clutch
    964 Lightweight flywheel

    Re: Trade for 997S

    GT3 clutch
    964 Lightweight flywheel

Those make a huge difference on any 996 or 997.

    Re: Trade for 997S

I agree with Dock, although I some some different mods....hardly boring.

    Re: Trade for 997S

Thanks for that Dock - I forgot to state that the Turbo I drove on track was a stock 2002 420bhp model.

If you go down the tuning route then you will probably end up with the car you really want!

    Good luck!

If he wants to tune it, then a Powerkit car would be the better choice. Over 550 bhp with chip and exhaust.

    Re: Trade for 997S

So, anyone up for a trade or not?
