    question

I am currently in the process of specing a 2008 997TT. However, due to the the realization that the 997 and 997S models are set to undergo a facelift in late 08, my concern is whether the 09 TT will undertake some of these modifications. I understand that the Turbo has a completely different front and rear apron than the 997 as well as other differences, my concern is in regards to the new rear lights, and other simple changes. Does any one have any information in regards to this? Also, since Porsche is on the verge of releasing it's TT cabrio, and having just released the GT3 and GT3RS, I feel skeptical as to whether or not they will modify these new models after being on the market for roughly one year. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

To tell you the truth there is no reliable information available regarding this topic.

However, I would argue that there is a certain risk that the TT will benefit from the general 997 FL (including the LED tail lights etc.) to be shown on the IAA in September.

Recently, RC reported about rumours that the LED tail lights might be retrofitable in case of the 997TT...

    Re: question

I was hoping that the lights would be retrofitable. Also does anyone know if these lights will be a definite yes? If so, are they retrofitable as well?

    Re: question

I apologize if I seem to keep "begging the question" on this. I realize that this topic has probably been discussed in the 997 forum. Its just that I do not want to make this purchase only to see it change the following year.

It's a treacherous trap - there will always be something new and better...and you can always wait, but why wait - I'm sure 2010 will have something we all want - that's the nature of the auto industry.

    Re: question

Indeed it is, and there is no doubt in my mind that this simple modification will take place on the TT as well. We'll have to see how this all turns out.

    Re: question

When you examine the facelift you see it can be accomplished by merely changing out the lights and bumpers. It's very cheap for Porsche to produce these new items.

My bet is they will do this whenever they feel like doing it, and probably very soon if they feel it will boost sales.

In the past I hear Porsche wouldn't change the look of cars so as not to pi** off loyal customers.

Nowadays they will do WHATEVER it takes whenever they decide to get what they want: more sales.

    Re: question

You're going about ordering a 997Turbo all wrong if something as minor as a few little changes to some plastic will affect you. It's just not that important in the grand scheme of things. Just know that whatever you get Porsche has sorted out for you. They're slow to release all sorts of things,--for a reason.

Well the reason I bring it up is because it is a concern for me. Granted, the changes I've seen seem to be small, I am just curious as to how some of the owners and potential owners feel about these modifications. Furthermore, it is no suprise that Porsche has begun to add changes more frequently than before. Growing up as a child, I remember my father's 964s and 993s staying virtually the same. Now that I can afford P-cars of my own is when they begin to change them more often. I do realise that there is potential for more profit, however as an owner, I find it to be rather annoying at times . Either way, the TT will be ordered. I would just like to be as sure as possible that these modifactions will not be major in any way.

Also, does anyone know if Porsche will offer a power upgrade like the X50 on the 996TT?
