    2009 GT1 supercar

    I know this topic is probably old, read that autocar had leaked official drawings of a Porsche supercar to be called the GT1 that is expected to be out sometime in 2009 based on an up coming le mans racer. To be faster than the bugatti.

    There are rumors circulating from a credible sports car forum, that Porsche are developing a V8 for GT racing.
    Remember the "flying" Cayenne's around the Ring that no one can work out what they are?

    The flying GT is most likely the new 928 which will be based on the same platform as the Panamera.

    I'm not convinced about that.
    Why would one build a two door sports car on a Cayenne platform?
    I don't doubt that there is a 928 replacement in the pipeline, but I think that the Flying Cayennes were engine mules.
    Again, I don't have any proof, just pure guesswork.

    The car won't be based on the Cayenne. The flying cayenne car most likely a mule for early testing of suspension, engine, exhaust system and transmission.

    Yes, just as I thought. The new "928" will need a new platform, as the current Panamera platform is the same as the Cayenne's

    I'm sorry. I think you are correct.
    The Panamera shares internals and engines with the Cayenne, but the platform seems to be new.
    The rumored "928" substitute will supposedly have a shorter wheel based version of this platform.

    Sorry for the confusion!

    I had seen the upper picture, but I had never seen the lower two!
    The car looks really good in the lower two pictures...IMO

    Forgot the Euro rate but some place around 350,000 Euro or close to $500,000...i think. I didn't worry about price when i looked at it since it will never become reality
