A fascinating interview about the history of the MP4/4 and MP4/5. It doesn’t surprise me though as brilliant as Gordon Murray is he can come across as a self aggrandizing salesman. I think the most damning piece of evidence is the letter from the heads, engineers, machinists of the F1 team.

Old story. To be fair, it seems it is true. most of 4/4 design was Nichols, the car being an evolution of 4/3 (slightly bulkier package with porsche engine). I think Murray also took a part, however his thesis: look at my bt55 and then 4/4 and you will see it is my car are funny. Totally different cars in fact)))

The sound of that thing is absolutely ridiculous,, it sounds better than anything else on the market by so much its not even on the same galaxy as the rest, save maybe the Valkyrie.
The looks are like if it was designed in the 90s, but with a sound like that and likely a handling and driver's experience behind the wheel to match, it can get away with looking like anything it wants, other supercars can't say the same.

I feel like everytime the T.50 publishes an update it amplifies the failures of the Valkyrie program.
Gnil:For those that don't like the look of the T.50, there is the T.33
For me these two cars are more exiting then any of the other super cars. Maybe because they look ''less''....
I love these cars too

maybe the engine has something to do with it
Yes, and connected to a manual gearbox with a shifter suitable for an art museum doesn’t hurt

As technically advanced as it may be, appearance of this thing looks almost comical.
Can’t hold a candle to the F1 in the looks-derpartment.
We're at the point where you can be the fastest or just sound like you're the fastest.

If this car had a prettier competitor, then I agree it might be an issue. But this car is in a class of 1 (or 2 if you include its brother T.33 which is a bit better looking).
Where else can you get NA V12 lightweight mid-engined car with manual gearbox and 12,100 rpm ??

I agree with all what you say, Grant, but this thing just looks so awful.

This happens when someone tries to combine a classic look with modern tech and legal requirements.

I know I may get flamed for saying this but I love it! even it's looks, because it's form follows function taken to the extreme in an irreverent way, it's looks is a flick of the middle finger of a 100% driver focused concept car to the flamboyant poseur supercars of nowadays, from the seating position to the way it can take up a rough narrow road and still deliver enjoyment, and that engine is just orgasmic in a world of cheap HP turbocharged one dimensional engines. Many will not agree but to me this car is royalty among the supercars, with the exception of the Aston valkyrie.
