    2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

Can't wait to see the race in Singapore Smiley It's a really magical spectacle Smiley

Plus there aren't many races to go so the season is really beginning to get exciting. This one should go right down to the wire Smiley

In the meantime, Pedro de la Rosa may be losing his race seat to Nick Heidfeld ...

This makes zero sense to me  Christian Klien is filling in for Sakon Yamamoto. Why not Karun Chandok?

Re: 2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

Red Bulls are looking unbeatable when the track is dry.

Let's hope for some rain during qualifying and the race itself - just to spice things up a bit...

Vettel needs to sort things out, focus and take another win home for RBR. Gonna be a great race.

Re: 2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

    Really enjoyed today's race.

Awesome performance from Alonso. A perfect weekend for him.

Vettel might have won if he hadn't touched the barrier in his final qualification lap in Q3. That cost him dearly.

    Solid recovery drive from Webber.

Button and Hamilton are still in there but 2 DNFs for Hamilton are costing him a lot.

I'm so impressed by Kubica. Even after a puncture towards the end he came back so strongly. If he had a Red Bull to drive, this Drivers' Championship would have been over several races ago  He does not make mistakes. He is consistent in qualification and always delivers in the race.

Schumi is now really embarrassing himself. He was totally outperformed by Rosberg but, worse still, he is actually making a fool of himself on track in the way he tangled with various drivers on a tight, twisty street circuit.

I can't believe Liuzzi hasn't been dropped yet. Surely Force India should give Paul di Resta a race seat for the last few races.

    Heidfeld looked rusty IMHO.

Barrichello is winning the psychological battle with Hulkenberg. The rookie is cracking and the pressure is showing.

Lastly, it doesn't surprise me that Bruno Senna was comprehensively outdriven by Christian Klien. Senna is just trading on his name and has yet to deliver anything to justify the faith and money being lavished on him.

Re: 2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

Interesting how Alonso pushed Vettel to the wall at the start, as if to show him how it's done properly.

Re: 2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

Second hat-trick in a row: pole, fastest lap, and race win.

With so many incidents outside actual driver to driver racing (mechanical probs, FIA desitions influencing the results, safety cars, etc) who ever wins this year the title is not going to mean anything toward who the best driver is, but its going to be an interesting last 4 races this year since its never been so open at such a late stage of the championship.

I just hope none of the top 5 driver have any mechanical problems in whats left of the championship cause that would unfairly throw them away form contention with all certainty.

Re: 2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

This championship is also a back and forth between the cars and technological advances (Diffusor, F-duct, front wing, ...). The Red Bull was clearly superior at the start, but now Ferrari and McLaren are even faster, depending on the track.

Only one thing is certain so far: Rosberg (now 122 points) will rank much better than Schumacher (now 45 points).

Re: 2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

Why he ever thought he could come back with his age, after being two years away from F1, and all that has changed (cars, tires, etc), just like that, and think he could be fighting along side Alonso, Vettel and Hamilton is beyond me.

At this stage of the season it should be obvious beyond any doubt to him and those who though as him that he will never be back to his previous form, that ship has sailed, he is human like every other driver.

The decent thing to do is to stop occupying that seat next year and give a younger guy a chance to climb up the ranks.

Schummacher may not be competitive anymore inside a F1 cabin, but he still has a lot to offer F1 in terms of invaluable experience, know-how, work discipline, etc as a team manager, car development, etc or other related jobs in the pits.

Re: 2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

The question for Schumacher is, whether he should stay and try to improve, maybe scoring a win or two. Or whether he should exit now, accepting that he is out of his league. He is a fighter, and I guess his instincts will draw him towards the first option. But he has to face the fact that there is an age where you simply won't get better, no matter how hard you try. I hope he has good friends helping him with the judgement here.

BTW, we really have no idea how bad the situation is. Rosberg seems to be quick, but we can't compare him to the top guys.

Re: 2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

I dunno, to me he remains an inspiration. He is the best driver of all time. We're all humans and in the end we only have one life. He is out there because he loves driving, simple as that. I don't think he really cares what you and I and the rest of humanity thinks, IMO he has nothing to prove and i love that he is out there. He didn't say IM BACK BITCHES prepare to get owned! No, he came back for love of the sport. His two years off he spend much time racing anything with wheels, he doesn't care what we think and i can respect that

Re: 2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

Personally I hink he does noeed to prove himself, he is occupying a precious F1 seat and its not a toy for him to play with and be entertained, either you prove you deserve to be in it or leave and let the next guy have his chance. Also I think he came back more to be back in the limelight that he was so used to being in and missed these two years, all the drivers in F1 love the sport, its their live and all they know since children.

But like I said, the fact that he is not competitive anymore behind the wheel does not take any merit away from what he has done and achieved in F1, and I think he still has lots to offer F1 as well, just not behind the wheel. A pity he left Ferrari for this, he should have stayed there and become a new Jean Todt there, he could have been very valuable, but given how he left I don't think he will have the door open again.

Re: 2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

OTOH everybody is remembered by his last act. Many F1 fans were not around at the time of Benetton or early years with Ferrari when MS was a real hero winning against superior machines. For them MS was a legend and a superman. With his comeback they see a caricature.

Whatever your career you must leave when you are on top, never be tempted to exceed your time and slide and be ridiculed.

I still believe in him - we will see next season, who is right!

For sure he will not leave F1 without a visit to the podium.

And I am really glad, that my young son had the chance to see him live this year in Hockenheim.

Re: 2010 Singapore F1 Grand Prix

Hamilton appears determined not to learn anything from his 2 DNFs

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsport/formula_one/9044641.stm

IMHO a smart driver will focus on finishing each race with the most points he can - rather than going for glory over a single overtaking manoeuvre.

Hamilton put his car at risk both times and he came off worse both times. For him to dismiss this as bad luck means he is being blind and stubborn IMHO.

One of the characteristics of the real champions in F1 is being able to be not only fast but consistent at the same time.
