    Nissan GT-R 2013 Model

Subtle upgrades to the 2013 GT-R to improve performance and handling. The numbers are pretty impressive if true. 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds and lapping the Ring in 7:18.6.

Still trying to beat the 997.2 Turbo S straight line acceleration time ? indecision

    Re: Nissan GT-R 2013 Model

The 997.2 Turbo S will struggle to keep up  It will be interesting to see the first reviews of the 2013 GT-R to get some perspective on these claimed numbers. Then see what the 991 Turbo can achieve as comparison...

    Re: Nissan GT-R 2013 Model

Sport Auto had it in the Last issue if i remember correctly, and the 2013 550 hp gtr was slower in strightline and on the hh Track than the older 2012 530 hp gtr. But Ambiente temprature was a bit higher on the Test of the 2013.

Stright line performance of the 997 turbo s according to Sport Auto Test, is still superior than the 550 hp gtr

So Nissan are still providing fantasy numbers? indecision I thought they learned the lesson with the 2009 model...

That was my take as well. "Based on the data it is clear the GTR could run x.xx"

Stop the BS and rent the track like GM did with the ZR1/Z06 and post real numbers.

    Re: Nissan GT-R 2013 Model

The best 0-100 kph I've seen so far for the GT-R was 3.3 seconds. The best time I've seen for the 997 Turbo S was 3.1 seconds. Still impressive what a "cheap" rice burner can do but I still wouldn't get one. If they remove that hideous rear wing, I may even consider getting one instead of my C63 AMG. Not sure though...

RC - it is much faster than you think -  Try 2.6 to 60 and 10.7 at almost 129mph for the 1/4 mile.  the GTR has a way to go.  No worries.  The turbo wins by a Romney size landslide over the GTR!

Cool video.. Andy and I saw the same thing when we went out for a play on the Nürburgring GP track in torrential rain - was useless under braking an in the corners - Boxster had no problem keeping up. Pulled away hugely as soon as it could get any power down of course..

Did you observe whether the Audi wore the correct tyres for rain? Perhaps, it was on a sort of Cup tyres?

If you mean me, it was my Boxster and a GTR.. Both on normal road tyres..

    Sorry, I wrote Audi frown.

Another one in the list of GT-R problems, apparently.

GT-R is heavier, tires are wider and the AWD setup may not be perfect for rain. Tires also play a role (I assume the GT-R in the video had semi-slicks while the Audi A1 Quattro probably had normal street tires).

I don't know, this comparison is kind of pointless if you ask me.

Btw: I tried to get an Audi A1 Quattro (it reminds me a lot of the Lancia Delta HF Integrale), the price tag is very attractive and I even found a production slot at a local dealer but at some point, this dealer (or better said the sales person) wanted me to order (sign a contract, even for later delivery) a second car for my business and/or family and I just wasn't willing to do that. I do not like to be forced to buy something I do not want or need, so I didn't go for it.

    Re: Nissan GT-R 2013 Model

According to the narrative the GT-R did not wear Cup tyres but normal standard road tyres. Only wider than small Audi's  as per specification.

Pointless comparison? Nissan would definitely agree with you Smiley

Most high performance cars use tires which may look like regular street tires but I bet that the tread mixture is actually more the one of a semi-slick. Many manufacturers do that. Does somebody know if the GT-R uses a specific OEM tire manufacturer/type of tire?

I really like the GT-R but I think that you get what you pay for (which may be enough for most people since I doubt that the GT-R is used as a daily driver).

The GT-R OE tyre is the Dunlop Sport Maxx. I am not 100% sure however.

Same thoughts here. Would be perfect on smaller roads, and more fun than the M3.

I think Sport Auto said something about them being close to semi-slicks

I remember the same, this is why I was wondering...

    Re: Nissan GT-R 2013 Model

It just confirms that the GT-R is a playstation generation exercise and while it is a technical achievement is leaves little to no drivers excitement and involvement and therefore goes against what enthusiasts want. As a consequence as see few people on RT buying it and its natural environment is the main boulevard in downtown Vancouver rather than the NBR. I like in that it goes really fast using technology and that they managed to keep the price realistic (well it's had a steep increase every year) but I do not like its size, design and weight... It looks terrible. I imagine it would be no fun for me as I do not care for ultimate speed but do care for fun and excitement. It's safe to say my old BMWs did a better job than the GT-R ever could, or a Subaru BRZ for that matter.

Thank you for the pictures. Judging from those, the Sport Maxx look closer to the Porsche normal tyres (PS2, Potenza, Zero) in terms of tread pattern and depth than to Cup or Corsa. Smiley

Semi-slick pattern on the outside only.
