Shame on Ford........No Ford GT Provided.....

The contestants have been announced for all of the big end of year performance car comparo tests in the US Magazines.........America's Supercar, the Ford GT, was not provided by Ford for any of the tests.   No C&D Lightning Lap, no Motor Trend Best Drivers Car and no Road & Track PCOTY.  Very disappointing, but perhaps they are avoiding competition for a reason.

Maybe the European magazines will get an FGT for their similar tests later in the year.

Re: Shame on Ford........No Ford GT Provided.....

Sounds like the trick Ferrari was performing when Top Gear wanted to compare the P1 with the 918 and the Lala... Stupid if you ask me, any magazine that really wants to will get their hands on one eventually.

No test car for any German car publication so far...really a shame for Ford, considering that the GT is their "halo" car.

I can't help it but I think that the straight line performance will disappoint a few people, especially compared to the latest McLaren 720S.

Why should they? Their sales book is filled.

Because they built the car as a halo model - they will not make significant money on a few hundred of those cars.  They built it for the publicity - winning a magazine test is exactly the sort of thing they want from the project.  But if it's slower than cheaper cars, that would be negative publicity.  My guess is they know it's not a world beater in this sense...

Exactly.  I had so much hope for the GT when I saw the concept, but that began to fade with the news of a V6, then evaporated when I learned of the actual hp and weight.  Although the GT is an uncomprimising "race car for the street," it will be outclassed by the 720s, which simultaneously trounces it on the track, in a straight line, and in terms of useability.

The GT probably has more "character" than the McLaren in terms of road feel and sensation, but the engine certainly sounds worse (not that the 720s is a standout in this regard, but at least it has a V8).

The GT still wins on looks IMHO...

Pointless when trackmode is illegal - like P1 times

Nonsense.. Ferrari often ignored these 'test'. Ford like Ferrari  knows what it has. These test sell magazines not cars.

Exactly. Smiley A negative review can harm sales. No review doesn't do anything. Reviews help sell cars and Ferrari doesn't really need them...yet.

Don't have to look farther than the 918.

When the spec initially was published, journalists all jumped on the bandwagon that says it's a pig and too heavy and etc. Porsche had a tough time selling the car.

But when he Ring time was published, they flew off the shelf and every single journalists looked like an idiot. They still do. Most tried to save faces by says yeah 918 is quicker but the P1 is more 'fun' even when it's slower.........
