I agree, realistically though it'll never happen, as it would make the Cayman faster than the 997 which costs about Pounds25-30k more.
LOL.....I wonder if Porsche will institute the industries first 0-60 governor for the Cayman then? If a sub 911
0-60mph run is about to happen, the brakes are slowly applied......
This will be interesting for sure. I remember a Road & Track article in the late 80's that tested each of the models Porsche had available at the time (944, 944S 4 valve, 944 Turbo, 911, and 928). The 0-60 times of the 944 Turbo, 911 and 928 were within a few tenths but the price of the 944 Turbo was around $45K at the time and the 928 was around $90K if I remember. The article tried to sort thru who each car would appeal too and I think that logic holds true to this day. Who cares if the Cayman is cheaper and handles better at the track? There are ALWAYS compromises - no back seat, stiffer ride, image, etc. I admire Porsche's marketing department for knowing who their customers are and at the same time going after new customers with new models to keep the company alive and independent.
