Re: Disconnecting PASM
Excellent question, I have researched this. It appears that the dealer or anyone with the laptop and diagnostic software can tell the cars computer that PASM is not installed (i.e. 20mm suspension or standard NON-PASM) and then the computer will simply not activate that portion of the logic hence no error messages etc.(These settings are normally selected as the car is being set-up for delivery after they leave the factory).
This allows you to install standard shocks and not get any system error messages. If change these settings AND you still have the PASM shocks installed they will go into 'limp-home' mode which is a mode during which they firm up quite a bit and no longer self-adjust at all. 'Limp home' mode is actually not bad (If you hate PASM) - it's almost not as harsch as sport mode and if you are on long highway drives 'limp home' mode is not as cushy (causes less motion sickness) as normal PASM mode.
Peace - drive right
