I've read about the changes elsewhere, though can't remember the source.
I think those tweaks during the lifecycle of a any model are normal for Porsche (and I like the attitude of continously improving a product rather than to follow the IMO useless facelift-fashion/cosmetic changes).
However the author's driving impression may have been influenced by the PCCBs (less unsprung weight = sharper drive feel). Also I'm sure that PAG continously improves the PASM technology.
Having said that it's also possible that the Boxster has taken over some suspension parts/set-ups from the Cayman in order to further capitalize on economies of scale regarding production costs
Maybe Dreamcar can share his own impressions regarding the handling of the 3.4 vs. 3.2 with us

You're welcome! I mentionned this a while ago in another thread, but didn't have time to scan back then. This is from 6 Dec 06.
PCCB: Yes, that was my immediate thought as well. You never know though, and interesting opinion regardless.

What an interesting read
For my money, the new Boxster S is the best value Porsche buy (since it's an absolutely cracking car which is a convertible as well!). Moreover, I think it's one of the very best buys in the Porsche range no matter what the price bracket.
This article just adds yet more weight to that view.
There's a great reason why the Boxster saved Porsche: the company dropped any pretence/arrogance they may have had in an effort to survive. They poured all their expertise gained over half a century of engineering into developing a car at minimal cost that carried the company's last hopes of survival.
Now the transition over 10 years from 2.5L 180hp to 3.4 295hp shows how much the Boxster has matured into THE car to get if you want a 2 seater convertible at a sensible price but which nonetheless offers stonking good performance from a thoroughbred sports car maker.

No more 996 GT3's! 987 S looks the likely way to go

@ porsche-jeck when I get a chance to have a real decent run in the car I'll certainly post my impressions compared with the 3.2. and stuck in autobahn traffic during our factory collection didn't help
. Unfortunately my job has really taken over since then so I have not had much chance to have any meaningful drives yet.
Plenty of runs planned this year to look forward to though. April we are off to St Simeon, a self catering complex south of Paris owned by the Holiday Property Bond in which we invested some years ago www.hpb.co.uk from there we are driving over to Rheindahlen / Dusseldorf with a meeting planned with Porsche-jeck. End of May we are down to the South of France for two weeks 
via that amazing Millau bridge and in September to Brittany (HPB again).
