    Scratch or mark under clear bra

    My dealer included a clear bra in my deal on my new black C2S. A few days after I picked it up, I noticed a scratch or mark under the film on the hood when the sun was reflecting on it. I tried buffing the film where the mark is and it had no effect on it. It seems to me that the only way to correct would be to remove the film that is on the hood, buff out the scratch and then replace the film. How would you handle this situation. I haven't notified my dealer yet but I plan on calling them about it. Has anyone had to remove their film after it was installed?

    IF just installed and you have plans to remove it, i suggest you do it asap. Once the film really hardens up, it will be alot more difficult and may damage the paint to if removed!!

    I don't see how the clear bra installers failed to notice this. They make sure the surface is nice and clean/dust free before beginning install. They had to notice it after the install too.

    Time is not of the essence. You can remove the clear film anytime you desire without any damage to the paint. The only time you may encounter paint damge is if the film was applied over aftermarket paint.
    If I understand correctly, car is new, thus, you will not have any removal issues whenever you decide to do it.
    I would definately have the issue resolved. That's very irresponsible on the installer's part.

    I only recently became a clear film addict after having some true professionals do the job. I refused to have anyone in my area do the work because, I thought it was shoddy.
    After a road trip to N.J. (Detailing Dynamics), I'm sold. Another member, Stradle, referred me and I couldn't be more pleased with their work.
    Clear film is like paint, it's only as good as the installer, no matter how good the product is.

    Also had mine done at detailing dynamics, good work and good guys. You would have to have the dealer replace it, otherwise it is gonna cost you about $500.

    I went to an installer today (not the one that installed mine) and asked him to look at the scratch/mark and he told me he thinks that the scratch is on the film itself. At the time that I first saw it, I had only washed the car once. It is not very noticable unless the sun is shining on the hood--and it is a black car. He said that the surface of the film is similar to the surface of the car--it will scratch just like the paint on the car will. But I don't have any scratches anywhere else. Has anyone else had problems with the film getting scratched--especially those of you with dark colored cars. Are there any detailing products that I should try to get them out. The installer I talked to said you can use an orbital buffer on it and he recommended carneuba wax. He said it would not totally take it out but it would not be as noticable. He said he could replace that piece on the hood for $300. I might consider this down the road but even if i replace it, will it happen again. I don't feel I could be any more careful than I have been to this point.

    He is correct. The film is as easy to get marking on as on the paint. Or may be easier. All you can do is to keep the film waxed or put Plaxus on and be sure not to wrap any dust off the film. When it get dusty, hose it off.

    I talked to my dealer today and he told me that their installer is the best in the Atlanta area and that he meticulously prepares the car before putting on the film. He doubts that the mark is underneath the film but I could bring it down there for him to look at it. I will try to buff it with an otbital buffer and some polish to see if I can get it out before I drive the miles back to ATL. I could always chalk it up to break in miles (currently have just over 500--320 mile round trip ATL).

    Not that it is important but I miscalculated the round trip mileage to my dealer (520 versus 320). That would get me over the 1,000 mile mark. I must have made that post a little too late last night!

    my father in-law just had his done by clear armor and guess what they put some nice deep razor cuts on the car, not to mention the lines and creases. He talked to the gm and will be getting a refund of $1400! I sent him over to Premier (www.premiermobilegroup.com) and it was 100xs better. Get the right guy for the job and you're good.
