You're from Abu Dhabi, so I'm not aware of Porsche Tuners in your country (maybe you should ask other Porsche owners over there). Personally, I can recommend certain german Porsche Tuners because german law has pretty tough guidelines regarding tuning and german Porsche Tuners usually have good ties to factory sources, at least unofficial ones.
RS-Tuning is my favorite regarding engines but I'm sure that it would be easier for you to find a Techart or Gemballa rep in your region. If you need more details, ask. I'll try to answer your questions as good as possible.

I am currently enjoying an RS-Tuning X50 and I wholeheartedly agree with RC. It is absolutely outstanding. The only downside is that working with RS can require a little bit of patience as they are very in-demand and very busy.

IN case you were wondering this is their web site:

Re: Modified ECU for 2003 x50

What does an ecu upgrade usually cost in american dollars? And has anyone ever used a company called upsolute they advertise a 90 hp increase for 500 dollars.

Re: Modified ECU for 2003 x50

The top German tuners charge about $6000US for upgraded ECU which with your GT2 would give you around 525hp and 750NM -I have been told that the relatively high cost is due to the tuner having to pay Porsche for the codes to "unlock" the ECU software before altering parameters can begin. Do you really need to ask about putting a $500 ECU upgrade in your new GT2 ;)

Re: Modified ECU for 2003 x50

I have a friend with a VW GTI that has been modified with an Upsolute chip. For the relatively low cost, he was able to increase crank hp from 180hp to 225hp, and torque from 180ft-lb to 245ft-lb. There is no loss in reliability. It also comes with a stock mode, so you can essentially turn the chip "off" using the cruise control buttons to interface with the ECU.

Overall they seem to be a good company, although I don't anything about their products for Porsche. Another company you may want to try is APR (Audi Performance & Racing) - http://www.goapr.com/. They are also very reputable.

    Best regards,
    Mike

Re: Modified ECU for 2003 x50

Tb I was just actually wondering if anybody had some knowledge about upsolute because I am familiar with chiptuning and stand alone computers and usually they cost about $1500 to 2000 for stand alone units. And everyone else I have seen other than upsolute wanted between 3000 and 6000 dollars us for the porsche tune up and I just think that is too much. But like you said with a gt2, although I believe its possible upsolute tuning might be a great savings for a similar result I went ahead and spent 3600 dollars and had a company called Proto Tech who claims to have an awesome program for the gt2 as well as the worlds fastest street twin turbo.
