Speaking of TOOLS:
What would be reeeeeeally nice would be a bit of software we could use to check up on the car. I.e any service information, faults, other stuff avail to the Porsche service depts... .
I would be especially interested if it would tell us, from ignition settings, if we are actually getting the premium octane gas from the pumps we buy it from.
Gee, maybe some software updates we could download into the car too... .
Geez..., uh huh..., yeah right..., it'll happen..., I must be stoned and I haven't even drinked or smoked anything.

I want some of what you're smoking...
Porsche has such a different customer today. I venture to say that the vast majority of people buying $100,000 cars can't be troubled by TOOLS in the TRUNK. The only tool they'll use will be a cell phone to call 1 800 Porsche. "Come fix my car." The rest of us will, as usual, augment that tool kit appropriately, based upon (1) distance from civilization and (2) familiarity with the car.

There's another factor.
Cars used to be actually repairable with a few hand tools: screwdriver, wrench, bobby pin, ... .
Most of the failures we experience today are not repairable without either sophisticated diagnostics or sophisticated tools or sophisticated and bespoke parts. So, having a screwdriver and a wrench in the car is sort of ... silly.
