    Lamborghini Murcielago beats Porsche GT2 in ...

    ... Hockenheim.

    SPORT AUTO tested the Lamborghini Murcielago with 1 min. 12 sec., faster than the GT2.

    On the Nuerburgring Nordschleife, the Murcielago did 7 min. 50 sec., only 4 seconds slower than the GT2.
    Impressive for such a heavy car.

    i am impressed as well-- not only because it's that heavy, also because it's a LAMBORGHINI. i remember when i met an sportscar collector who recently sold his diablo GT. he told me that the car is "only good for driving straight forward -- but beware if you get to a turn"-- seems that lamborghini/audi made some GREAT improvements if the car is that fast on the small hockenheim curcuit. i am really positivly suprised. it's not a la croisette show car anymore. at least not limited to it ;-)

    Well, we might testdrive a supercharged Diablo with almost 700 HP this summer. CR Germany is working on that.
    I'm impressed by the Murcielago too, honestly. If I had the money, I'd probably buy one. The Murcielago isn't a daily driver and maybe it isn't as fast as the GT2 is. But it looks great and since Audi got involved in development, it finally seems to become a great sportscar. Some less weight and some adjustments to the suspension setup and the Murcielago could be a fantastic sportscar. Sadly, the Murcielago's price tag will make it a seldom appearance on the street. As much as I'm a Porsche addict, as much I'd love to own a Murcielago. Funny, never had this feeling towards Ferrari, even if Ferraris always fascinated me.

    This really surprises me! I would've never imagined that a Lamborghini could compete with a "track oriented" top model from Porsche in the handling department.I have to say: way to go Lamborghini and Audi!
    I think a test of this monster is certainly needed now...

    i share your feelings, i would immediately buy the murcielago if i could. lamborghini was always something VERY special and still is. even with classic cars, I would opt for a countach LP400 or the miura instead of ferraris of that era. but i am concerned if audi may take TOO MUCH influence in the development and PRODUCTION of the new F360-priced lamborghini. i heard that they are going to produce the chassis in INGOLSTADT!! with the murcielago it's fine-- they overlooked the process, they did the fine-tuning, they spent lots of money for QA. but what if they entirely BUILD THE CAR? same with bentley. engine and chassis from wolfsburg and then ship it to crewe for some finishing. i like the idea of the bentley GT coupé but i seriously don't want to drive a bentley with a VW W12-engine and the phaeton chassis. and that is great about ferrari: although they belong to fiat, they don't put fiat engines in their cars, they don't do production in the same factory. badge engineering is a controller's dream for sure. but not mine.

    wait till VW come out with the W12. It was the fastest in sicily and it is not dificult to be the fastest on the street. VW is not a "golf" company anymore. Look at all the car companies that they own.
