    997 Turbo vs ZO6 Video

    Just found this on Youtube. It's a Best Motoring clip with the last race being a 1/4 mile drag race between the two. Hope it's not a repost.

    It IS a repost.

    The comparison is a little bit misleading. Yes, the 997 Turbo Tiptronic smokes the Z06 but only up to around 180 kph, where the Vette starts to gain on the Turbo. At a speed over 240 kph, the Turbo starts again to be faster but not by much. At least this was our experience during a comparison. Make no mistake, if we like it or not: the Z06 is a damned fast car, even on the track in the right hands.

    Well the guy drove a 12.6 QT on the first run in the Z06 and a 12.1 on the next run. His shifting and launch were terrible which is very important in a rear wheel drive car. For comparison purposes I ran an 11.7 my very first run in my Z06 on my very first pass down the drag strip ever. It's an easy car to run hi 11s in. SInce then I have run a best of 11.2@126. Other guys have run 11.01 with stock tires. The 997 is so easy to launch it's a no brainer but you'll never get much faster than 11.7. The Z06 on the other hand with excellent traction is a 10.9 second car.

    The turbo should launch like the Evo because of 4wD...right? The Z06 seems to have a better launch than the turbo, but against the Evo, the Evo has a much better launch than the Z06. It seems the turbo should have a much better run with a proper launch.

    The times at the drag strip and a normal road or even track aren't comparable. You have much more traction on the strip due to the special surface.

    well 11.7 to 10.9 difference of 0.8 sec..
    this represent at the finish line 8 car lenght...

    if this is true.. i will sell my TT and buy a vette(maybe 2) I swear.

    like the vid of the internet that a guy with a modded z06 smokes a stock TT. and the vette guy tells that his vette is stock too. bull***T!

    i will just believe that a vette smokes a TT from roll when a rennteamer do a video against the Z and post here.

    All UK magazines have the vette a fair bit slower than the tt...e.g 0-100 8 secs vs 9.3 .NO doubt the vette is seriously quick car though.

    this 997tt without overboost button (or its off) .. 997tt manual with overboost is faster than z06 .. i try with 2 c6 z06 ..
