    Bonnet not flush with bumper

Anyone else get this on their 997 (see below pic). My left front side of my bonnet has a big dip in it where it meets the bumper.

I took it into my OPC today and they saw that quite a few 997s had the same problem.

The conclusion was to open the bonnet and adjust the 2 little rubber stoppers under the bonnet lid. These can go in and out and as such realign the bonnet when it is closed to fit the line of the bumper.

I pulled my stopper out as far as it would go and have nearly realigned it, but I wondered if others on the site had seen similar issues with their cars?

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

eek! it looks like something was dropped on the front of you car

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

Nope, the bodywork experts at the OPC today said there was absolutely no dents or warps, the bonnet is as it should be other than the aligning.

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

I have exactly the same thing, in the same location as you.
I noticed it a couple of weeks after taking delivery of the vehicle, but have done nothing about it. Your proposed solution is quite interesting. Worth a try!

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

Obviously you want the hood to be slightly under flush, otherwise you'll direct the windflow underneath the hood causing it to strain against the latch

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

Watch you don't unscrew them too much as they come completely out. They are just rubber stoppers with like a corkscrew rim on them.

I haven't played with it too much yet to get it perfect but I'm thinking my right side one may be too far out thus pushing the left downwards.

We looked at over ten 997s today in the showroom and practically ALL cars had the problem to some degree.

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

Heh, my bonnet looks exactly the same, at the very same place...

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

dont worry man we all have it.
bonnet lock needs to be re lifted a bit ask your dealer
    its nothing just 2 screws
    ill post pics later

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

Please do Altak, that would be my next step if the rubber stoppers dont do the trick

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

same on mine, looks like crap

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

Alex, yep had it on mine - you will see on a post back in May - fixed easily by the dealer although it will mis-align again...

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

same here, not as much as in the pic but easily visible. And I thought it would come from closing the bonnet by pressing there, so I switched to pressing right under the crest to avoid further deformation. I will try that trick with the stoppers, thanks That hopefully will also stop the edges of the lid from further scratching the black plastic of the trunk.

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

Is that terracotta exterior. I like the brick pattern.

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

Mine dips down but has the same gap all the way across. Not ideal- I thought it was an aerodynamic thing and there by design...? On an old car, it would get a big negative for "gaps".

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

Same problem, same location, same fix. Dealer says quite a few were delivered that way.

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

Mine was excactly the same, I did the retro-fit (unscrew rubber stopper) myself.

    It's fine now!

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

    Mine's perfectly aligned!!

Thank G something's okay after all my initial problems.

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

Don't see that on mine, but EWI is correct... the recommendation is to press down right below the crest when you close the bonnet. Otherwise, you risk to damage it...

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

    Mine has it too.

I have the exact same thing at the exact same place! Will porsche replace the hood since it the hood is defective?

Re: Bonnet not flush with bumper

I was told by my OPC that there are no dents or warps in the bonnet lid (hood). They did say that if I couldn't resolve the issue with the adjustment of the rubber stoppers then they would take it in and fix it for me by maybe looking at the bumper itself. Which sounded to me like it would be covered by the warranty.

Frankly they were unsure what the exact cause was.

I have adjusted my rubber stoppers under the bonnet and although it is better, it is not the same level all the way around still. So next time I take the car in for a service I will get them to look at this too.
