Can’t be.  Only Tesla has the knowhow to produce a performance EV. /sarc.

It's still on track for Frankfurt debut last I check.

Configurator and ordering will open at that time.

Smiley Will be very "tight" though, a couple of weeks ago, they weren't so sure they are going to make the deadline but either way, the car will be in Frankfurt, ready or not.

The car is more than ready!!!

The dates for the presentation were made/decided in December 2018/January 2019! They confirmed (for the press/public) it on April 2019!

Men tend to discount the appeal of never having to deal with petrol stations again.  Women seem to be somewhat uncomfortable with standing in a vulnerable place (outside the vehicle with unknown strangers) while refilling the tank.  Men don't much share the emotional downside to this feeling of exposure.  Feeling safe inside one's own garage when dealing with "filling the tank" is a big deal for women whether they talk about it or not.  The bonus of feeling "green" adds to the appeal.

Sir, you are extremely correct with this brief synopsis.

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

My wife sends me to the gas station, she has not filled a car in many many years...

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

That is funny, because that is my wife in a nutshell. That is why she loved the Q7 tdi, hardly needing filling and why she hated the old Q7 4.2 before, that one needed to filled every second day. She already told me that she if never had to go to a gas station again, she would love that. No EV this time, but next time, most likely... for her.

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

Yes my wife hates going to a gas station. This is a major deal for her so I couldn’t agree more.

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

Volkswagen Group is working on an induction charging system that merely requires the EV to drive over a mat on the garage floor.  While the charging rates are relatively low, it is perfect to top up the battery pack overnight, every day.

Do you know the expected charging rate and efficiency ? BMW  has what they call "Wireless charging"; rate is below 4KW (if I'm not mistaken)

EVs are very nice because SHE is now the person who "fills up the tank", not I.

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

11kwh with 90% efficiency would be about 7-8kwh of charge. That would be great actually. My city garage only has 8kwh and that’s more than enough. I have been using only 3kwh at the beach house (until with change the internal charger dial) and even that is enough.

All this new tech is really exciting. ICE and hybrid cars are already obsolete today and it is getting worse with every little advance.

Latest on the topic from Audi is 3.6 kW.  https://www.audi-mediacenter.com/en/technology-lexicon-7180/charging-technologies-10999

Not great but adequate when a car is parked overnight in the garage for ten or more hours.

Modifying the topic:  Are EVs more "stealthy" than ICEs?  Intuitively, it would seem that using radar, there is less reflective material in most EVs compared to ICEs as there isn't a large metal block in front.

Re: Porsche Mission E...the future of Porsche?

Good question Mike, and certainly right down your business alley.  A question for you—has your business modified as a result of the substantial move by law-enforcement to camera traps rather than radar?

The USA has not gone too far toward unattended camera traps.  The majority of USA radar/laser enforcement is still from patrol cars.

My wife will give up much before trading her 911 for an EV, but, her analogy is she only wears solar or automatic watches because she hates going to a mall to get quartz watch batteries replaced.  Malls are her gas stations....Smiley

Calling ICE and hybrids obsolete is a premature ejaculation.

EV is still very pre-mature as compared to hybrids and especially ICE.

The support structure for EV is no where near even calling them good enough.

As I said I another post before, the day when refuelling a EV is as convenient and as quick as refuelling a ICE or Hybrid is the day one can call them obsolete.
