    More Mr. Turbo pics...

Sorry for this "dumb" name Mr. Turbo but somebody came up with it and I kind of like it.

Very cool pictures RC thanks . I really like the Carbon Fiber interior looks very cool .

Can you even enjoy your vacation? I bet your constantly thinking about coming back.

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

I just noticed something, did you opt for no front spoiler lip or am I just blind? The close up shot of the front shows no lip.

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

The name Mr.Turbo is all right. I think it is okay to become a bit childish when you have taken delevery of a car you have been longing for.

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

in the words of Paris Hilton...

    That's hot

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

Congrats RC!! What a beautiful piece of work.... Basalt blk is indeed a good choice.....

May I ask why you ordered tipS but not manual?

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

Congratulations, RC . Black Turbos just look so ..RIGHT !

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

I too noticed the front spoiler missing, but for the most part I think these are some of the better 997TT pics I have seen. Thanks bud

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

    Spoiler Delete??

    They forgot it???

    I don't see it either

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

I wonder if it's installed at the dealer, they might have a hard time getting the car on/off the transport vehicle. The white one did not have the front spoiler either.....

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

Thats a good point, its probably sitting in the dealer on a shelf somewhere.

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

from what i understand they install at dealer.

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

Black out the wheels , what do you think , will give it more of a Badass look

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

    RC,
Nice pics, thanks for sharing! Regardign the exhausts; what is your sentiment about those freaky inserts that rae way bigger than the exhaust itself? Does it look better in real life? My opinion is that they made them so big to make way for the turbo S later. Then they can use the quad exhast, and still use the same rear bumper, all they need to do is exchange the inserts... clever thinking!

Although I think there have been enough controversial discussions about my choice, I try to explain in a few words:

I've chosen Tiptronic over manual because the new 997 Turbo has some sort of "networked" design where all black boxes communicate with each other and the Tiptronic is part of it. Regarding REAL LIFE performance, this setup provides a huge advantage over manual and you need to be an extraordinary driver to be able to achieve a similar performance with manual, not talking about straight line acceleration only which is better with Tiptronic anyway. Some people apparently didn't pay attention from the beginning when we explained that the Tiptronic on the new 997 Turbo can't be compared to the Tip on other current Porsche models. Not because it would be a different kind of gearbox but because none of the other Porsche models has PTM and an engine with VTG chargers. Apparently this is something difficult to understand for some people, I liked the comment "why doesn't the GT3 have Tip if it is that good...".

The problem with people reading this forum is that some are owners, some are not and some want to be owners but own a different car right now. This means that we have a mix of opinions, half-truth gathered from other forums and sometimes even false information, collected from the press, other car forums and even dealers. To cope with this "mix" of sometimes contradictory information isn't easy at all, not only because we have strong personalities and Egos involved but because even if we clarify a thing or two with an extensive explenation, it gets lost in the many threads and posts. The FAQ is a good place to start but I wasn't able to finish it since my real life job and the family have priority.

And a last "problem" we have: since we can't unveil our sources or tell everything we know in detail, we sometimes have a very hard time to explain things without being able to use this confidential information. I know that some users sometimes provoke intentionally to get the last drop out of me and the other mods but this only makes us furious, this ain't a good method to achieve that extra info everybody is hoping for. Sometimes people just need to trust our claims, even if they are from time to time contradictory to the claims on other car forums or even in car magazines.

Btw: manual isn't a bad decision at all, I've chosen Tip for my car (the only launch car with Tip in Germany btw. and not without a reason) because I was looking for a new performance challenge, to get the max out of the Turbo. With manual, it wouldn't have been possible for ME anymore but I know it is difficult to understand. Just say to yourself that I'm nuts if this comforts you.

CONGRATS CHRISTIAN, he finally arrived !!!!!! I'm happy for you !

Congrats. again RC, and as Ron said, the CF center console looks cool. I have ordered the Porsche factory CF replacement console for my 996TSCab-amongst other CF pieces, including the factory CF stick and steering wheel options-and I can't wait to add them too.

Just one more week and you should be driving her.

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

Very nice RC. All the best, drive safe. Sweet ride.

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

Dearest RC, when someones reads this forum and good informed pressrelaeses it must be an very very st...d person not to have understood how why the tip is faster concernig the VTG-system and the sort off launchcontrol system which works perfect together to build up the turbopressure...

even me being a stupid hairdresser have understood thx to this magnificent forum how things work in the new tt!
Only by cutting hair i never will be able to buy such a marvellous car!
I enjoy though every cm i drive in the 997S cab too!

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

RC your car looks awesome..... Black makes this car look so bad-ass but its still so understated. Perfect compromise if you dont want to be attracting alot of attention ...

BTW I thought you were getting black wheels to match or arent they available yet??? I dont think they are/were

    Re: More Mr. Turbo pics...

Congratulations Mr RC Turbo! Very nice! Excellent! Slower than the F430, granny tranny -- but still... some rocket!

hope to see this black spaceship with my own eyes pretty soon.

    enjoy your vacation!!
