Maybe they are testing the SpaceX package with rocket thrusters
Elon Musk:
" ~10 small rocket thrusters arranged seamlessly around car. These rocket engines dramatically improve acceleration, top speed, braking & cornering. Maybe they will even allow a Tesla to fly..."

Leawood911:It was too fast for him!
glad he is okay, and the car did not catch fire. Thrusters would have made a big difference.
There is another guy in a Tesla giving it a shot. I will look to see if there is an update or video.
That corner is called Bottomless Pit. 4000ft drop beyond the wall. 2 years ago when I was there a 911 lost it and rode the stone wall and the wall crumbled behind the car.
This year the road surface changed, a new bump appeared on the racing line which Randy didn't expect. I was talking to him yesterday about the 'off'. This is his first run at the top section.
They sourced a Model 3 in town to be a parts car, should be able to fix it in time to do a run on Sunday.
On another news, David Donohue topped the Time Attack chart with the GT2RS ClubSport, David Donner is 2nd in the art car 000 GT2RS ClubSport, Jeff Zwart is 3rd in the 935. Baring anything happen to them, a Porsche will win Pikes Peak again.

Leawood911:Sounds like fun. I missed it! Will be in Boulder next week. Have fun and a safe trip back. Note I did not joke about your off there !!!
At the Lake enjoying a Poker run with the power boats (compensators). RC would love the noise they make. Like 1000 Harleys.
Haha I am not there this year, our border is closed so I can't visit the USA, nor do I want to atm, too many cases everywhere.
You can still joke about it, I still do Of all the cliffs there, I picked the correct one to go off on, dropping 4 feet instead of 40, 400, or 4000
I don’t have the balls to race a car up Pikes Peak. It scares the craps out of me. I drove it once and I spent most of the time on the mountain side lane.
Again, I don’t understand the animus against Tesla from most on this site. Give credit where credit is due.
When you're going through hell.....keep going.

I would be much more terrified to race down it. That is a death wish.
I get the dislike of EVs. Prior to driving one in Las Vegas last September I was a long distance driver with zero interest in something that took more than 5 minutes to refill. Perhaps this is why I am so interested in people trying it first without prejudice.
surprisingly the driver in me is more in love with the EV power than the logical mind favoring clean air, no fuel bill or repairs. I’m not even a fan of the tech and self driving as much as I am the actual one pedal driving and daily use.
Of course I also have the turbo in reserve. I might not like the EV as much without it. Or maybe I just realized that gas powered cars now make zero sense in the long run.

It really actually isn’t about the car or the company. It’s the fans, or more appropriately the fanatics.
Consider the purpose, as a daily duty car that do nothing else, Tesla was he car can’t really do much wrong. It’s always the human factor that’s the problem.

On a car forum I typically don’t mind people who love their cars. In a way, strange I know, I expect it. In fact one would argue it takes more of a fan mentality to empty the bank for a weekend toy which costs a fortune vs a practical car which is reasonable.
Im not certain I could ever be offended by someone being enthusiastic. I tend to be offended by people who engage in personal attacks or try to silence people.

Notice Nick said fanatics, not fans. Most Tesla fans are more like fanatics, nothing to do with enthusiasm o car loving, and more to do with narrow minded belligerence with anything non-EV, many times not even based on the car but on other reasons like environmentalism, many don't even really like cars or driving, and they live in a bubble of self reinforcing bias and subrealism. They are like those fanatic vegans that feed their cats carrots and broccoli, and want you to eat the same too because of their beliefs.

Leawood911:There actually has been lots of talk about a VW merger for some time.
Tesla would never pursue a merger with VW because they would end up as a small division of a much larger company. Keep in mind that in car sales Tesla is rather smaller than Audi...
VW Group will be selling more EVs than Tesla by 2021, so just be a little patient and gravity will prevail...
PS: Do you remember how AOL - Time Warner played out?

Hey , it’s VWs dream not mine or Tesla’s. Elon might consider it just because he is ants more EV not profit.

VW’s strategy for competing with Tesla is rather simple... VW will sell more EVs than Tesla across multiple brands and multiple price points through their established global dealer network, at which point Tesla will be somewhat irrelevant.
Apologies for stating the obvious, but occasionally the noise/fraud can be distracting for some!

This will be great for consumers!! But it is a rather obvious goal, not so much a strategy or technical advantage. As in you predict the team with the most point will win the game. Is this not always the case?
I do commend VW for not wanting to take part in fraud. Lesson learned.

That was from the Tesla crowd as they were saying the Taycan was a flop and VAG can't build a proper EV and should buy Tesla for them to cash out.
Tesla's primary market has always been the USA, they should actually be considering buying one of the domestic car maker, all stock deal, with their stock price current trading at a very elevated level.
Mergers, buy-outs involving foreign companies will need to pass government scrutiny, domestic transaction will be much easier to get through.
