Roof Rails
I recently added the roof rails to my Cayenne and am really starting to like the look. Especially from the side view, the roof rails add some perceived height to the Cayenne making it look more SUV like and less like a station wagon or overgrown hatchback.
The rails are also integrated into the body lines quite well, better than most roof rack designs. The leading edge continues the line of the A pillar and windshield. The trailing edge also has an angle that parallels the rear hatch line very nicely. It also covers the not-so-concealed load carrying system's mounting bracket.
Functionally it's not so great, other than keeping water out of those mounting channels. The load carrying capacity actually decreases with the roof rails so they should probably be considered for aesthetic reasons only.
