    Re: Ford GT

The questions are like, what is your affiliate with Ford, how many and which historically significant Fords do you own, what are your motorsport activities (driver, organizer, team owner,) what are your highlights (what races have you won)...

Yeah, I have a feeling that I'm not gonna get one hah

Hopefully it will carry some weight that I'll be keeping it and driving it pretty much always around their headquarters and campus, and they and the community will see me in it constantly getting lunch :)

    Re: Ford GT

The new Ford GT will be the first super car to be able to carry 2 sets of golf clubs, without taking out the drivers.

The 2 side vent 'channels' are built to accommodate golf bags. I measured, they fit, perfectly.

well, that is a matter of taste. i find it rather blunt. sort of cheap version of lambo-style. also i find the eco-boost engine non-inspiring.

    Re: Ford GT

I like it a lot - obviously it slots into the bottom end of the supercars.. that said it still has heritage and style! Something not all supercars can claim. It's a Ford halo car, but it's serious enough to say it's really nice... something I would never ever say about an LFA or NSX etc...

I would still take the new NSX over the Ford GT.

Both have twin turbo V6s but the Honda is more high tech, 21st century with the hybrid system.

Heck I would take the LFA over the Ford GT too, that V10 sound.

Yes, to me it looks like a "kit car" put together in someone's garage. That was my first impression when I saw it in Geneva last year and this impression has remained.

I don't like the design ("kit car" is a good description...), I don't like the engine choice, sorry. Smiley Maybe it is just me (as always... Smiley).

The previous GT is a beauty and the engine...wow... (not that I don't know this engine pretty well Smiley).

I think the Ford weighs about 1,000 pounds less and would be 1,000 times better to drive (from info provided).

On the street, weight is really not an issue for me, it's about the last thing I look fro in specs (See the pigs that I own? laugh)

The fun factor I looked for for street cars is the engine response, the Ford GT with heavy boost will not be as agile as the NSX with the hybrid supplement throttle wise, on the street sometimes a fraction of a second delay in getting the acceleration means getting hit by a stray car or not, I don't get a couple hundred meters of empty tarmac to wait for the boost to kick in.

The only turbo charged cars that I have driven that I don't really feel the lag is the current Turbo S, my old 12C (650S I can feel a slight lag), California T.

On track perhaps. the Ford GT will eats both the NSX and the LFA alive, but then again I have a GT4CS.

As your 991 RS is one of the lightest cars you own and one of the most fun to drive, maybe there is more correlation than you thought Smiley

    Lol good catch!

But honestly, I actually never think about the weight of the RS, I enjoyed it simply because it basically kept the 911 handling trait that I liked. I can almost don't have to worry about how hard I pinned the throttle, in the F12 I am always mindful of the the ease of it breaking traction in the rear. Very. Easily.

In my Shelby, when the steering wheel isn't completely straight at around 120 kph, I still have serious traction issues. I actually think it is fun but not so much on public roads. Sometimes I wish I could switch from a 2WD to a 4WD system... Smiley

I'd be salivating to get my hands on one if it had a Skoda badge Smiley  But more than salivating if it had a race version of the GT350 V8 and a manual gearbox.

    Re: Ford GT

Over 7000 Orders Received for 2017 Ford GT

Ford has received over 7,000 orders for their new GT supercar.
The announcement comes less than two weeks after Ford released the GT configurator online, which undoubtedly accounted for a large portion of the 7,000 orders. Ford will be producing 250 units of the GT per year, meaning that demand far outweighs supply at this point.
Ford did not break out the order number into region or offer any indication as to which configurations are the most popular.

The first of the new GT are expected to be delivered to customers at the end of this year. Ford has yet to announce official pricing or performance figures but pricing is expected to start around $400,000 and power will likely push well above 600 horsepower.

As a reminder, beneath the skin of the 2016 Ford GT is Ford’s most powerful EcoBoost production engine ever and just as speculated, it is a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 unit delivering more than 600 hp. Final specifications have yet to be released nor have performance times, but one can be assured the 2016 Ford GT will be faster off the line and feature a higher top speed than the previous-generation Ford GT. This engine makes use of dual fuel-injection as well as a low-friction roller-finger-follower valvetrain and is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transaxle transmission.
