Hey, the car seems to be holding up pretty well...

Just wanted to comment that it seems there haven't been many horror stories or major setbacks for our cars posted here recently.

Old timers might recall at the beginning there were a few scares with system faults, sooty exhausts, headlamps which when polished would play intractable havoc with the software.

What do y'all think? Things are looking pretty good for the car's overall reliability? Especially when you realize that the real world frequency of problems gets overstated on these boards.

Re: Hey, the car seems to be holding up pretty well...

To be honest the engineering on these new cars is fantastic. The way they handle and drive is awesome. Quality thats another question. IMO the quality on the new cars is not what it used to be.

Re: Hey, the car seems to be holding up pretty wel

The true test is after the warranty runs out.

Re: Hey, the car seems to be holding up pretty wel

True, when it is new, they're all good.

Re: Hey, the car seems to be holding up pretty wel

All running fine on the '05. Bought it in Dec '04. Now have 34000+ miles and it's not my daily driver!

Re: Hey, the car seems to be holding up pretty wel

Let us give thanks that we have not been inflicted with some of the problems that Ferrari owners have encountered.

    Good effort

Re: Hey, the car seems to be holding up pretty wel

Had some sensor related problems with my 2006 (delivered 11/12/05) which were (eventually) traced to a faulty ground wire but flawless since then.

Re: Hey, the car seems to be holding up pretty wel

    05 w/ 16K and no issues!!

Re: Hey, the car seems to be holding up pretty well...

    47000 km no problems
just the f&*^*&*ng sunroof noise that nobody can fix
    still having fun

Re: Hey, the car seems to be holding up pretty wel

12,000km - just went back to fix some rattles (it's a cab so it's understandable) otherwise has been running perfectly

Re: Hey, the car seems to be holding up pretty wel

Personal experience of initial quality only: 1400 miles, 2 months old, so far no problems...

Re: Hey, the car seems to be holding up pretty wel

After looking at the weekend , I dont think the P's match Audi and BMW for quality of dash and switch gear ,, imo of course.....

Actually it is pure destiny when one acquires a car. My Audi was solid while my E46 M3 was just the favorite mechanic car at the service center. Knock on wood, my 997 is quite good compared to my M3, only went into shop once and that was for a defective sun visor replacement.

Considering my observations, brand qualities show great variability. I wonder if our expectations are taken to a higher level with time or its just the coincidence of fast production with alot of outsourced parts that arrive shortly before assembly.
