Has the PK Dropped in Price?

Hi all,

With the imminent arrival of the Turbo S, I have heard rumours that the PK has now dropped in price - is this the case? Anyone know how much the new cost is? I was quoted before at nearly $20k.

(I am not looking for any body changes - wheels etc as I already have the TA body kit installed.)

Why should the kit drop in price???

Especially for those who want to retrofit it, there is no other solution.
And people who want more power from the factory should go for the Turbo S because it is the overall better deal.
I don't remember that Porsche ever dropped the price of a powerkit or any other option on the same model.

According to the price list link posted below by CF, the PK is 12,900 Euros, at least in Finland. Isn't that a substantial price drop, or is there something quirky about Finnish pricing?

Now this is wandering a bit off topic, but does anyone else find it strange that there is no differential for the add-on PK vs. factory equipped? It's hard to imagine that it isn't more expensive for them to add on later. If nothing else, there would be the additional labor of taking off all those parts (I remember RC's great photos), before replacing with the new ones, even assuming the "assembly" labor was the same. Unless, of course, the dealer's labor is much cheaper than the factory's

Anyway, if my assumption is correct, then either you got a bargain, RC,

- or I helped subsidize even more of a salary for some Porsche exec.

Price tag is still the same. And although the kits (from-factory and retrofit) have the same price tag, retrofitting requires another 2000 Euro install cost. So it is definetely recommended to get it from the factory, the retrofit is more expensive. Or get the Turbo S...the best deal anyway.

Thanks for the clarification, RC.

So, has the price in Europe always been $12,900? If so, then why is it $19,900 U.S.? I'm no financial whiz, but I don't ever remember the USD being down to .65 Euros.

Don't know anyone over here who has put the PK on, but I know a couple who were quoted prices of $19,900 USD, including installation. Maybe their dealers were just offering a big discount.

Hi Rc,

Well from the rumours I heard it seemed to make sense!

If the CT with powerkit comes in at almost the same price as the Turbo S - then who will be buying the factory installed PK?

In order to not kill sales of the PK in general, it would make sense to slash the prices to entice existing Turbo oweners to buy. If the PK dropped down to around 9-10k I would certainly be a buyer!

You still don't understand? Simple: they want people to buy the Turbo S.
