Open recall W556

I just had my 997S in for installation of a new right wheel

and the SSK

. The dealer mentioned there was a open recall for new hood latch bolts which they didn't have in stock, but are ordering. Perhaps this is a fix for the dreaded "system fault" related to the hood? Any other info? My service advisor seems to think that it's more related to the hood not shutting correctly...

You're probably correct. Seems like "system fault" would be a gasket or a gasketed electronic component.

BTW, IS there an official recall for this? Would pi** me off if not. Means they are just letting us take our chances with a known defect.

It's an official open recall. Your dealer puts in your VIN and any open recalls are displayed...

Is this recall specific for the american cars with the extra hoodopener? Or are all the cars concerned?
Mine is at the dealer's now for two days to solve my el.gremlins...
So i would appreciate to now wether my car is concernde too.

The recall must have been created in the last 10 days because my car was in then with the dreaded system fault message related to the hood mechanism, the service manager acknowledged the problem and that porsche did not as yet have a fix for it. I'll check in with today though to see if this recall is "it". Hope so..

Called my OPC today and they now about this recall, but this is only to scure the bolds are Ok. Has nothing to see with opening of the hood

My car has just been to the OPC for a new petrol pump (see separate thread) and they fitted the new bolts at the same time. The mechanic said they look exactly like the old ones and does not know the reason for the change
