A Singer is my dream. A targa is even beyond that... Fantastic.

+1 It's the best of both worlds, isn't it?

Re: Is Singer about to hit a high note?

I never understood the appeal of the Targa, myself.  I've always appreciated the lines of the Coupe far more (not to mention the lower weight, higher rigidity, and freedom from leaks and noises).  If I was going to have a Targa, it would be an early version with the soft removeable rear window.

Re: Is Singer about to hit a high note?

Cars are used 6/10 on the streets. Having the possibly to remove the top provides additional sensations that a coupe cannot, for a minimal reduction of performances, but for a higher price. If you think about it, if there was no price difference and small performance delta why would anyone buy a coupe over a convertible? Only Porsche managed to sell a coupe for more than a convertible under the quasi false pretense that it is faster/handles better... It is a miracle Porsche even sold any Cayman...

I'm not really sure what aspects of a car are important to you.  It's not objective performance, since you only use 60% on the road and you don't track.  No point in having a car that prizes appearance and structural integrity over open-top driving.  No point in having a car with manual gearbox, since it's more important to go a little faster than enjoying the process and interaction of driving.  More important to have a car with high limits of sticking in the corners rather than being playful at the limit (although limits will not be approached).  I would have a terrible time trying to design a car to your needs...

I prefer slower and more fun. Hence the Mini.

Who said you could own only one car? I have six and most are quirky and unloved by most. Come to think of it the Mini S manual convertible is the most value efficient car one could buy for family fun. And the GT4 is the most value for fun track oriented solo performance car.

I heard it should be the ultimate 911  with the engine developed together with a top engineering team (read F1). Amazing cars - Dickinson is an artist.

Re: Is Singer about to hit a high note?

I can see where this is all heading ...Singers will become increasingly " precious " and each one more  " unique " and stored away deeply in collections never to be seen again after the obligatory interweb " review " publicity stunt to set up its " provenance"  among current car nuts for future auction purposes

not good, since these 964 chassis - based vehicles are supposed to be so sweet to DRIVE !

Re: Is Singer about to hit a high note?

The pity will be that most of those cars will be ending up as show-cars. What a pity!
