    Do you need heated seats?

My dealer keeps telling me to get the heated seats. I've had a couple of open roof cars before and I usually just crank up the heater and figured I can do without, especially in Phoenix. I read somewhere that the Boxster heater is kinda lame. Is that true? I'm trying to keep the number of non-perf options at a minimum.

Re: Do you need heated seats?

As with so many of the other options with this car it's all down to personal preference really. I suggest you test drive a car with and without heated seats. If there are no '05's on the lot you should at least be able to find some '04's to try out so you can judge for yourself.

AZ is typically h-o-t, but it does get chilly on those winter nights no? I live in So. Cal (never drops below 65 degrees lol) but opted for them; lessens the need for using the heater which blows unpleasant air that dries up my sinuses.

Re: Do you need heated seats?

I got them on mine here in Colorado...but it was a toss up.
If I were living in Phoenix...i'd probably pass on them and save the $480.

Re: Do you need heated seats?

I can't think of leathers seats without heating seats. Fabric is ok in the cold, but leather is really not comfortable if it gets cold.
That's when you just start, on top of that, heated seats + heating full on lets you drive in VERY CHILLY conditions.
I'd never even consider buying a Boxster without this option...
Not where I live anyway :-)

Re: Do you need heated seats?

considering the car is 60k US, i dont think 480 is really going to hurt much more. the heated seats are well worth the extra green..

Re: Do you need heated seats?

Arizona. Isn't that pretty hot all year? I mean, youd probably be wise to buy seat COOLERS instead
I wouldn't go for heated seats, unless you plan to sell it off to someone in a colder state later on - or unless it does get cold at night or some peeriods of the year.

Re: Do you need heated seats?

Thanks. I used to live in Colorado and the nights were a LOT colder there so if you wouldn't use them there then I can tough it out!

Re: Do you need heated seats?

I got them, partially for the winter, but mainly for the extended roof-down night driving it will offer me throughout the year. Nights can get chilly here and driving with the roof down in the dark is fun. With heated seats, so long as it's not raining I can have the roof down anytime.

Re: Do you need heated seats?

I've ordered them for my 987 as I have had them on my Saabs for many years - they are great in winter when they kick in before the heater really gets going especially if its concentrating on demisting and deicing at the time. Once you have had them they are hard to live without!

Been to Austin occasionally - lovely place to drive top down - its snowing here today so I am jealous!

Re: Do you need heated seats?

Got heated seats in mine, obviously great for cold mornings, nights etc etc... However Ive been out playing today, driving around for about 6 hours and a nice little bonus of the heated seats is that they really relax you back... So if you start getting a bit stif (In the back gentlemen of course!) you wack on the heated seats and it really sorts your back out.

Def one of the better options IMO
