JoeRockhead:Ferdie:Rossi:RC:Ferdie:The fact alone that you prefer it over the pre-facelift...
Do you like the pre-facelift more?
Or do you even own the pre-facelift?
I bought it from Kreso. Wait, I just go and make a picture...Ouch!

Gladstone:Whoopsy:To be honest the fun is ending soon, that new new giant grill is butt ugly, don't think any sane person will want to be seen inside one of those.
I can barely see a difference in the M5 update, but the new 4 series couple looks like grills gone wild
That grill is ridiculous

Personally I like the new 4 series, especially in the M paket exterior look and with a front plate fitted, as below.
Cars are getting too samey and characterless and designers have to try new ideas. Take the Chris Bangle 5 and 6 series BMWs which were knocked by critics when they came out. They look more distinguished now than the "logical" follow up models.

Bangle design cues are easy to soften up and integrate, this giant grill on the other hand..................
Only way to integrate would be to make it smaller and smaller

I don't think BMW haven't evaluated this new face/grill through their consumer clinics. They don't leave such things to chance.
I believe that following an initial reaction, it will grow on BMW customers new and old as a sign of dynamism and performance.
BMW make so many models in different segments now, so different versions of the "Niere" are inevitable.

Whoopsy:BMW isn't the first to do a enormous grill.
Audi did it and it aged really well now.
Lexus also did the same thing but it still looks as ugly as ever.
Wonder which way the bunny teeth grill will go?
The difference being that the Audi singleframe grill is nicely integrated with the rest of the car’s design. The BMW grill is the opposite. It stands out. Too much

Audi did it right, BMW not. The new BMW grill certainly makes the new cars more distinctive and recognizable but I don't know, I think it is too much. I saw a camouflaged car but the grill was not and it looked...how to put it...different. Way too much in my opinion.

Personally, I prefer the Audi and BMW look of the 80s.
BMW has done it before (with the F20), if customers don't like the new grill they will change it in the facelift model.
Not only BMWs but many other modern cars grow in dimensions every time there is a new model. Still I don't understand why the auto industry will do that when there is no really a need for all these new models.
Whoopsy:Think that's the M5 and not the M5 Competition though.
But doesn't quite matter. The M5 Competition is pretty much the best bargain for a 4 door performance sedan.
