    997.2 Turbo not at Geneva

It was widely muted that the Turbo 997.2 would debut at Geneva 09.

Should I read anything into its absence?

I’ve been without my 993 Turbo for a while now and am getting bored of waiting for the facelift Turbo. What’s the holdup? Smiley 21

Geneva is the show for the facelift GT3 - they like to spread the publicity around a bit...

I was hoping to have it for Summer  (where do OPC's get their info).

By then the pound will be even weaker against the euro! I guess I can expect the facelift to cost circa £120,000 by the turn of the year.

It makes a used 997 GT2 (that I could have tomorrow) a tempting proposition at similar money Smiley 18 . Its not like I'd use the Turbo as a daily driver anyway.

Has anyone from the UK had any experience of getting the £10k deposit back from an OPC? I'm guessing that since I've not spec'd it or anything it shouldn't be a problem (although I have had my Porsche Driving experience day at Milbrook).

ho come you did your PDE at Milbrook since Silverstone is now open ? Also once your car goes into production, no refund Smiley

Did Millbrook last year before Silverstone opened. OPC have had my deposit for a while as I was originally waiting for Turbo PDK. I don't like the PDK buttons, would prefer not to wait another 9+ month's for the facelift so I need to seriously consider my options. At least it sounds like getting my deposit back is easy. How I then ignore the black 997 GT2 or White LP560-4 E gear sitting in their showroom only time will tell Smiley 11

Re: 997.2 Turbo not at Geneva

My guess is that they want to introduce the facelift AFTER they have the PDK tranny sorted out for the Turbo's power.

Panamera Turbo comes with PDK and 700Nm torque. So let's watch how this does...

You can't compare the Panamera PDK to the 997 Turbo FL PDK, two different worlds.

The 997 Turbo FL introduction was planned for early summer 2009 but apparently Porsche wants to drive customer focus to the Panamera this spring/summer.

Another reason seems to be PDK, the choice of engine and...surprise, surprise...engine power. There are rumors that due to the current economic situation, Porsche wants to introduce a 997 Turbo FL with more power (520-530 HP) and abandoned the 997 Turbo S.

Again: this is a RUMOR, so please take it with a grain of salt.

There are so many rumors right now, it may indicate that even at Porsche, the world financial crisis creates a lot of headache and they want to plan for the future.

Interesting times ahead, maybe this also means that customers finally get more value for their money.

I have a write up from Porsche Italia and my dealer of last year, with writed that the 997 TT MK2 will not come till the end of solar year 2009,so early year 2010 (not Model Year)

If they were right...i loose the bet,and i must buy the 997 TT MK2 hahahahSmiley ,so better if there will be more power at the same price.Smiley

Re: 997.2 Turbo not at Geneva

    Just few things...

How is ordering 997 Turbo these days?

997.2 Turbo MUST be introduced latest at IAA 2009. Otherwise... Again, potential costumer for 997.2 Turbo is IMHO NOT potential costumer for Panamera Turbo. Or I am totally wrong and Porsche is becoming old farts car maker?

The 997 Turbo FL introduction was planned for early summer 2009 but apparently Porsche wants to drive customer focus to the Panamera this spring/summer.

This is a risky strategy when the competition seem to be churning out desirable metal e.g. LP560-4, R8 V10, California.

I hope Porsche use this extra development time to put some distance between itself and the competition.

Re: 997.2 Turbo not at Geneva

The 997.2 TT need to be faster than the GT-R, LP560-4 and the new F450.

PDK for sure and I hope they delete the freaking buttons.

At least not sure about the latter. Smiley
