It also has a lot more torque than that overrated oil burner in the GT3 indecision

Porsche's Newest 911 Trim Will Exact A Final Revenge On 911R Flippers...

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Literally, no, it will not exact a revenge on the initial flippers, who have their profits already.  It may have an impact on subsequent 911R owners' selling prices in the short term. They simply have to wait 20 years or so, by which point the value of a true limited edition, last manual (oops..) etc will be apparent.

I think it will matter what future models offer.  If the 911R's selling points are no longer unique (or even as good as subsequent versions), then the 991 units doesn't mean that much regarding value.  Having a limited edition of nearly 1,000 units is not that rare, if the model doesn't possess superior and unique qualities.  It will always be a very cool car, but maybe not a great collectible.  There are other limited Porsches that sold in the double digits - this is the highest production "Limited Edition" Porsche that I know of...

For example, there were 22 original 911R's.  There were 29 US-Spec 1988/1989 911 Clubsports (these were almost worthless until fairly recently - now valuable).  There were only a dozen or so 1973 RSR Touring models (street-legal).

But there were 1,581 73 Carrera RS 2.7's and they are valuable more for their unique qualities than their rarity (there are more of these than the 73 911S upon which they're based).

Some cars are relatively plentiful and collectible (like 73RS), some are rare but undesirable, and some are both very rare and superior.  Not yet clear where the new 911R will fall (but there are nearly 50 times as many as the original 911R)

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Have Porsche ever said that the 991 R was going to be the last manual? Afaik Porsche's only compromise was the limited run, which they did assigning a real number to each car instead the infamous 1/XXX car.

So no one who legitimately wanted the car should be screwed, they had their lightweight perfomance and exclusivity. Those who were looking the quick buck might have gotten fucked but hey, shit happens.

None of the original buyers of the car was hurt - just speculators who paid several times the MSRP.

No, you are correct that Porsche never promised that, they would never limit their future options by saying such a thing - it was the enthusiasts and speculators who guessed that.

What I don't know is whether Porsche had already decided that they would re-use the new 6speed manual gearbox in the next GT3, or whether they honestly did not know (when the R was released) whether the next GT3 would move back to a manual option, and the R was a "test case" for the market size.  My guess is that it (the new 6 speed) was always intended for future use, just because I can't see Porsche justifying the development and engineering costs based solely on the 911R.

AP said the R gearbox was always planned for the GT3 also, but not sure if this was communicated to R buyers.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

I doubt it was explicitly, but then it was never marketed on the basis of being the only/last manual 'GT' either. If you're in the business of flipping them for a profit, you should probably do a little due diligence and consider that.

At $13k, I think Porsche will be happy to offer PTS. Decklid and rear vent look like R and 991.1 though...

It's a Mk-1 body so it's got to be an 911R, plus like Grant mentioned, it looks like it's got the 911R bits

    It's a PTS 911R from a Swiss owner

Was at the opening of the latest Porsche center in Switzerland last night and they finally confirmed the package will be officially announced next Monday and in the dealer's configurator from Tuesday on. I have my allocation and now the cumbersome PTS process begins.

He is just a good driver who enjoys the journey. PDK would bore me to death in a Porsche. I still believe that the control you have with a clutch and direct manual linkage can never be rivaled by PDK.  And good luck when the battery is dead. I have yet to own a Porsche I have not had to roll start at some point. Lol.

    Re: OFFICIAL: New 991.2 GT3

Must admit there's a couple of things that piss me off with the PDK and e-brake combo: not being able to reverse with the door open, and not  being able to just let the handbrake off and push it backwards or forwards a little. Wish the lawyers had a little less input into those aspects.

It is the Porsche centre in St. Gallen. It was interesting to here what they needed in terms of infrastructure in regard of the upcoming Mission E.

I didn't inquire about the cost, I'll have another call today. As soon as I know more I'll update.

Looking good kissshame they didn't get any interior pics.

I find it a bit strange they are leaving unreleased cars in public parking garages before the launch.. If I was in charge of marketing I'd be concerned.

Agree looks good. The center locks have the Porsche crest instead of GT3 logo.  Interior shot would have been interesting as well as declk lid. The spoiler appears to have a small lip like the  .2 sport design.
