GT3 RS is 4.5s faster than Cayman S???  WTF?  I suppose R-compound tyres account for some 1.5 to 2s perhaps, but that is still a huge margin!  What's the spec of the Cayman S?  LSD?  PDK?

Re: Sport Auto 04/2010 Hockenheim track times

Very interesting Kreso. Did the Megane have the optional Cup chassis?

Nice to see that it's signficantly faster than the non-RS this time (0.9 sec).  That lower gearing really helps on a track like Hockenheim.

My theory so far: the tires (switch to N1) bring the lap time down quite a bit. Unfortunately, I don't have a copy of the magazine yet. Maybe somebody with access to the test could check the tire specs?

HHR suits the GT3 and the GT2 quite well. The short track in particular. The Scuderia would be more competitive on faster tracks where it can benefit from its F1 gear-box. Also, GT3 and GT2 do have an advantage as the Cup tires are faster than the Corsas (only availble tire for the Scuderia) Smiley In essence, the results do follow a certain logic Smiley.

Cayman S is manual with all other goodies(LSD, SC+, 19"). Fastest Cayman S PDK time is 1.13,9min with same Bridgestone tires.

Absolute true. Cup+ tires in N1 specs are faster then Corsa in R01(Audi R8 specs) for example. Cups are almost 1s faster on HHR when used on R8 V10.

BUT... Personally I am not interested how fast is GT3RS or any GT model with Cup tires. Why? I have my own doubt about their useness on everyday roads.

How about this-how fast is new 997.2 Turbo S with Cup+ N1? Anwser-almost as fast on HHR as 997.2 GT3RS... So, figure it out...

Also is very interesting that nobody noticed that Scirocco R is as fast as much more powerfull Z4 S Drive 3.5is.

Sounds reasonable Smiley BTW, did they not mention the tire specs in the specs section? Usually they state there whether it is N0 or Nx?

The article says "Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2" which makes no sense of course. I'm sure the car was equipped with the N1, as that's the standard for the cars leaving the factory.

From what I've heard the N1 are more sticky than the N0, hence my car got a set of them today Smiley

And yes, Kreso those Semi Slicks are not the best choice for road driving. They are very temp sensitive and you can't get enough heat into them on public roads. Therefore the normal PS2 offer even better grip than the Cups on public road. Of course on the track it's just the other way around Smiley

Damned impressive laptime for the new RS - even a tiny little bit faster than the GT2 Smiley

And the airtemp in HHR was ZERO degreees Celsius Smiley

Many thanks Smiley I would be most interested in your personal ranking of N0 and N1 (lap times). I am sure you will do some timed laps with the new tires soon Smiley

P.S.: I agree with your expectations regarding the relative performance of N1 and N0. That's why I belief that the GT2 with N1 tires is faster than the GT3RS... Remember, the GT2 lap time was done on the old N0 spec tires Smiley

You bet Smiley some inspection laps in the Eifel are planned for tomorrow Smiley

I'll let you know about my impressions Smiley A friend (frequent track driver) just also has equipped his GT2 with the N1s. Will be interesting to hear what he says.

Nice side effect: price for the N1 was the same as for the N0 Smiley
