    997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

    997TT group test from Autobild...

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

    interesting
Overall 997 tt is the best i guess !

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

Too bad the gallardo is not yellow in the pics! You should imagine that that car was most easy to obtain in yellow, but probaly not.

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

Exotic owners don't care very much for elements in "Cost"

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

I think the 997TT is a wonderful car, but looking at the numbers it is clear it won this comparison test in the "Body" and "Costs" areas, not the performance area.

    Gary,

Sorry to get of the subject , BUT.I must comment, beautiful color combination for you F430. I saw this color combination on a 360 Spider in the Hollywood area and it was absolutely striking!

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

congrats to Porsche for "BARELY" beating the one year old Ferrari and not to mention the 2 year old Gallardo!

    Thanks for the kind words.

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

    Very very disappointing.
How can GM build an exciting car like the Z06 and Porsche can't build a car that even matches its rivals?
    Sickening.
Say what you want about the Z06 but it is an exciting car to drive.

    Bye Porsche.

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

Magazines still dont get the part about storage space. Giving a higher mark to the 430 over the 997 when you could easily fit more than twice as much stuff in the 997 using the storage behind the front seats. The car should have won by even more points.

But they're right about the 997 and 430 beating the other 2 wanna be cars........ Even giving the vette a huge 20 extra points over the F430 (40 vs 20) in the price department AND they gave more points in the depreciation to the vette versus the Ferrari (LOL) ...... 997 turbo & F430 the best 2 all around sport cars period.

Area behind 997TT front seats is worthless from a storage standpoint...would never want internally-launched missles in any severe deceleration....and the 997 rear seats are rather dubious from a safety standpoint for any passengers...lack of rigid seat strucs, crashworthy headrests, side/head airbags and/or side curtain airbags....

    That said, 430 has a real trunk (vs 997TT's lame trunk)...and 430 has a MB-like 28gall fuel tank, unlike 997TT's commuting-incompatible <18gall tank...

But 430 has glaring lack of modern safety systems like side/airbags....and would argue safety, real and/or perceived, is the real-world rate-limiter for usable performance of any car....

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

I'm confused as to why the tt scored the lowest on the warranty.
If they mean warranty costs, them it's misleading because, obviously the cost is not passed on to the customer and if they mean warranty period; I'm really confused, because it's inaccurate.
Besides, from a durability standpoint, the Chevy will not lead and would likely be last afetr the F and L cars.
    Can anyone explain, Nick excluded.

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

How did the Corvette outscore the Porsche and all the others in Safety Equipment??????

And..does anyone know the fuel usage rate at 200kph for the Z06, TT and the others?

There's the great Porsche paradox - billed as a daily commuter, but, equipped with a puny bladder.

Also, how does the much heavier Turbo outbrake the F430?

I hadn't noticed that...looks very strange. The 430 has turned in some excellent stopping distance numbers in other road tests, with and without CCB, and this test gives them a very low score.

The 997TT didn't "win" in the performance section, because the Lambo and Ferrari had higher points in the "facination and sound" departments....nothing to do with performance Take away the points for those 2 elements on all the cars and the performance areas were pretty even.

BTW, I love your car too

You've got a point. I wish they would just reduce it to subjective and objective results, it's too much work filtering out the relevant results. Even though I do value an engaging exhaust note, it's not really a performance issue.

You should know that the magazine "Bild" is somewhat akin to "National enquirer" and Auto Bild belongs to this group. For competent and objective testing, I'd turn to Sport Auto, regardless of whether Auto Bild think that the 997 is the best car.

When I travel I throw my soft-sided/canvas bag with all my clothes/shoes/other stuff behind the front seats...on top of the lowered rear seatbacks. I don't worry at all about it from a safety standpoint.

As for the 17 gallon fuel tank, I don't find it a problem at all.

Luggage in the back seat can be strapped down.

21.6 mpg (manf) times 17.7 gallons gives a range of 382 miles. How many of us go that distance without stopping for food or bathroom? I'd like to see an F430 get that kind of range!

Since when is the need for smaller gas tank (less sprung weight) due to superior gas milage a bad thing?

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

Do you know if the turbo has pccb's, that may have been the reason why it handled worse on the corse.

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

Is it just me or do the Euro rags seem so inconsistent between each other. I mean normally Road and Track and Motor Trend get different numbers but they generally get the fastest car to be the fastest and the best handling car to be the best handling. They generally agree on those things. The Euro rags are all over the map.

I wouldn't put to much stock in any manufacturer's numbers. In real world driving, the F430 does out range the turbo as per the article.

Not by much, really, as stated in the Turbo S/430 comparo by Auto Zeitung, about a year ago.

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

If you delete the last part of the test (tax, consumption, warranty, base price etc. ) which is the part that i dont really care, the test result will change. The vette get +20 points for the price area.

But i am surprised that 997 TT get less pts than f430 and G, for the engine char, and v-max, and driving safety and handling issues.

For the test result the 3rd column is the main part of the test imo

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

What makes the Z06 so great is that GM has built a vehicle that EXCEEDED everyones expectations.

Can't say Porsche has built a car that exceeded anyone's expectations for a while.

Re: 997TT vs Gallardo vs F430 vs Z06

...vmax is better in the turbo than the Vette, yet the vette tops out @ 198, the porsche I think 192 or something...what gives?
