Ah the one 918 tech that I don't want to appear on the rest of the car line.......useless touch buttons, one cannot used them without taking the eyes off the road.

Big fail from a usability point of view, but they do look nice statically.

    +1 Smiley
I really don't get why anyone would implement touch buttons rather than real buttons.
Okok, I understand that you don't want to clutter the interior with too many buttons, but
    A) you can't operate them without looking at them. B) They attract smudge like hell, C) Why not use the soft buttons that we have had on phones for years now (real hardware buttons, but the function depends on the context).

It was well noted  - but I think the bet is that the new generation Cayenne will be largely similar Smiley.

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

When the new cayenne comes? I am interested in buying a turbo or GTS. I love the new Panamera interior

If they'll keep the new Panamera design line with the upcoming Cayenne - it will be very interesting indeed

Much better than the last two designs...

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

Oh please, someone has taken the new Panamera and squeezed it together. They did not even bother changing the old turbo rims

This looks more like the next Macan than the Cayenne, the rear line are too angled.

According to rumors, end of next year (2017).

I fear that this will be spot on. For sure we will see a lot of the Macan/Panamera influence in this car. Even though I really like this design I still would prefer something different. I don't like if brands are taking the "brand design" to such an homogeneous level. They have one success and suddenly the whole line up looks the same. Worst example - Mercedes. I can't recognize anymore the difference between an C or E-Class. And all the others are looking at least in the rear mirror very much the same.

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

my DD is a 3 series BMW - tell me more about differentiation ... I struggle to separate a 3 series from a 5 series...

At least, Porsche has a (new) design for the lettering which to IMHO looks good - I removed all letters from the back of my 981 GTS...

I know that it is a simple photoshop, but have to say it works well on the Cayenne.

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

Again the above works well because the angle of the rear glass is too steep and this is basically a Macan... But this will compromise luggage space so it won't happen.

This may have been discussed already, in which case apologies.  From  http://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/2018-audi-q8-high-tech-sporty-suv-top-q-range :

    • secret new plug-in petrolelectric system that is being developed in partnership with Porsche and is claimed to give the Q8 an all-electric range of up to 31 miles.
    • The KoVoMo engine is claimed to be at the centre of a secret new plug-in petrolelectric hybrid system tipped for introduction on the Q8 and the third-generation Porsche Cayenne.

Since Audi took over the SUV development in the VW Group, I think that we are going to see a lot of new tech for the next Cayenne generation. At a premium of course... Smiley

Don't want to hijack crayphile's thread so I am gonna put it here.

Today I got a URGENT email from my dealer, my Cayenne Turbo S has just entered production.

Someone double checked my order and found out that there was no colour specified for ALL-leather steering column, AZW-leather dash trim and AVW-leather mirror cover. They want to double check is that how I ordered it or was there a mistake somewhere as I had ordered cognac stitching everywhere else and these 3 trims defaults to black stitching.

I am super impressed. Cause this is my suggestion to them 2 years ago at the factory. I wasn't impressed with how there are a billion codes just to spec stitching inside the car for pre-991, and absolutely no one double check orders, so a car could be built with mismatched stitching or missing stitching and no one cares.

First they simplified the codes to basically just 2, one for seats and one for almost everything else, and now they actually have a human checking the orders.

My first Boxster S was supposed to be delivered with red stitching allover but accidentally, they "forgot" the red stitching of the door panels. Nobody checked, car was delivered to dealer without red stitching of the door panels. Dealer had to retrofit this stuff, wasn't easy, took time and money (not mine though).

good to know someone is double checking now.

I always have things missed in my orders.  In RS, they missed the remote garage control order.  In GTS club coupe, they missed the entire extended club coupe package (fancy PDK shift knobs, carpets, etc).crying

Due to miscommunication my Macan came without the keyless entry... Well at least they don't change orders like Ferrari does (and on your dime) without telling you because someone at the factory decided it was better...

Think they did that already with the 991.1 GT3/GT3RS, you can order/wish/hope for a manual but the factory decided to fit every car with PDK anyway Smiley

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

    Wonderbar:

Any new information on the 2018 Cayenne?  Spy pics? Frankfurt auto show?

New Cayenne is supposed to be available end of this year, so I guess it will be in Frankfurt this year.

Spy pics? Nothing new but considering that it is based on the Q7 and uses similar engines to the Panamera, not many surprises here. Design? Think of the current Cayenne having a child with the Macan...or Panamera. Smiley

Yes, the Cayenne will slightly grow in size but also loose some weight in the process.

To be honest, I am much more interested in the new Mercedes GLC 63 S AMG right now...the most interesting and badass SUV this year...well...until the Jeep GC Trackhawk shows up. Smiley

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

My cousin has launched the Trackhawk a few times and driven it pretty hard, said it feels pretty quick.

    Re: UPDATES: 2018 Porsche Cayenne

My German Jeep dealer said the Trackhawk will start at around 105k EUR in Germany...a bit much. My last SRT had a MSRP of 82k but Chrysler offered the car for businesses in Germany for 64k or so. Amazing offer!

The GLC 63 S AMG is still the SUV I am looking for...I am just worried it will be expensive as hell (no price announced yet).
