    Sport Chrono Pkg.

I've been reading a few different lists and I'm not sure where I read it but there was some discussion about the Sport Chrono package with regard to throttle response and fuel mileage. I recently asked my salesman why a company that builds the ultimate sports car would make maximum throttle response a $920 option? Today one of the salesman told me that it was explained at a recent training session. The throttle opens with less pedal movement but it doesn't open any quicker if you floor it. There would be no difference in 1/4 or lap times. You'd just depress the pedal less to achieve the identical performance. He did think it was well worth it though for that and the many other features it had. Is that how it feels to you folks who have it?

    Re: Sport Chrono Pkg.

Well, at first I was very much convinced that the Sport Chrono package was a must-have. I've since changed my tune. I hate the wart and the car drives fine without the remapped throttle once you get used to the way the electronic throttle is calibrated in normal driving mode. I think it's not responsive enough, personally, but I could live with it in retrospect.

I guess the other thing about "sport" mode is that it makes the PSM less aggressive in the way it reins the car in, which could also be considered quite a benefit.

But, if I were to do it over again, I'd still get PASM, but I'd probably not get Sport Chrono and use the money elsewhere, such as more leather.

    Re: Sport Chrono Pkg.

For me it's the other way round. I did not order the chrono but got it anyway when I bought my car. Meanwhile, I prefer the throttle behavior in sports mode. If I could get that, permanently, with the corresponding PASM setting, and without the wart, I'd go for it again.

    Re: Sport Chrono Pkg.

If you go to this site: http://www2.us.porsche.com/wheresportbegins/pcna.asp , you can see an animation of what pressing the "sport" button does.

After the video, select "Porsche details" and then rotate the image until you see the Sport Chrono link. Couple more clicks and you're at the animation.

    Re: Sport Chrono Pkg.

The only "downside" of the sport chrono package is the ugly wart/stop watch.
Otherwise, go for it, you'll regret it sooner or later, especially if you're a very sporty driver.

    Re: Sport Chrono Pkg.

The only downside is a huge downside. Leather, PASM, nav - those are personal choices and okay as options but who doesn't want optimal engine mapping? Should be stand equip. The wart looks god awful.

    Re: Sport Chrono Pkg.

Please explain Ugly???? Wart?? I love my little Chrono so sporty. Gee, then I did buy an Euro 85k sporty car. This Wart thing is getting to be a really really boring thread, pers choice & if you actually use it even just for fun will make you smile.

Exactly. If it was available seperately, I'd say it's a must-have. I hate the chronograph though.
