    Re: Incredible Ferrari Picture

    It hardly comes better ...

    Re: Incredible Ferrari Picture

I had never noticed how close the 288 GTO Evo and the F40 look.

    Re: Incredible Ferrari Picture

Owner is from Japan. Don't know his name though.

Me to. It's not very often you will see the five Ferrari supercars together.

Looks like an F50 GT? Does anyone have the specs on this car?
I think I remember hearing somewhere that it produced around 720hp at over 9000rpm.

    Re: Incredible Ferrari Picture

Did you check the cars in the back ?
All red Stratos, Lancia 037 and Delta S4. All seems to be original road version.
some guys just can afford the good things in life

Well if I'm not wrong, I think the 288 GTO was the base for testing of the F40, and it all started from that car, twin-turbo V8 and all.

    Re: Incredible Ferrari Picture

Forget how similar the GTO is to the F40, look at how similar the F50 is to the Enzo, they are as similar as the F40 is to the GTO.

Only if you see them from afar....close up they are VERY different.

    Re: Incredible Ferrari Picture

Maybe these all belong to the Japanese gentleman Matsuda

He has pretty much every Ferrari imagineable

    Re: Incredible Ferrari Picture

Maybe it's just the right angle. It struck me, as I had always remembered the regular GTO as closer to a 308 (I haven't seen an Evoluzione in the metal yet).

Well the Evo is VERY different from a normal 288 GTO.

    Re: Incredible Ferrari Picture

Hello, I think this pict was taken in Francorchamps, during the Ferrari days, or Italian days I'm not sure, reason why you see other italian cars in the background.

    Re: Incredible Ferrari Picture

Thanks Tony. While cosmectic details differ, the general shape of the F40 is already there, isn't it?

Wow Tony! More pics!! How does that thing compare to the other Ferrari's perfomance-wise?

    Re: Incredible Ferrari Picture

    mike,
all my pics are in this Ferrarichat.com thread. I hope you're registered !

as for performance, this is from AutoItalia mag :

"the trusty 288 Evo was recently treated to a rebuild. Brakes, suspension and transmission have been overhauled and the car is at Snetterton for a shakedown.
Before dismantling , the dyno measured the power output of the 2.8 ltre V8 @ 440BHP.The old Magnetti Marelli management system was ditched in favour of a fully programmable Motec system. Without increasing boost, the Motec ECU raised the power output to 550 BHP.The motor was then dismantled and rebuilt and uprated using state of the art pistons, rods , valves, six throttle bodies and water injection. The standard Michelotto race cams are retained as are the twin IHI turbos and twin intercoolers. Power is now 661 BHP - and could reach 700 BHP on race fuel- with just 1.87 bar boost. Charge temperature is the key to to turbo power and the 2888 GTO is limited by the size and position of its 2 intercoolers. Fitting larger intercoolers in an area with high airspeed is not possible without losing the car's character. If it were , then 1000 BHP would be possible....."

Quite sure those are Norweigan, all cars were listed and displayed at a Norweigan dealer for some time before they were taken back to France. Don't know if they sold anyone..
