    Tip / Manual faster Question??

    I know that the published figures show the 997 Turbo is 0.2 seconds faster from 0-100 kph.

    I have read that this Tip figure is accomplished by "power braking", foot on brake and foot on gas "Pre spooling the turbos" for a launch.

    Not the most real world launch scenero.

    What would be the performance difference between Tip and Stick if the Tip was not "pre spooled" and on launch you just "floor it!".

    How big a difference would there be? Tip still faster, equal or a tic slower??

    Manual would be faster if the manual driver does a proper (not perfect) start-off.
    But did you also see that Tip is faster from 0-160 and 0-200 kph and not by the 0.2 seconds in the 0-100 kph range but by 0.6 seconds? I know this doesn't sound much but the manual time involves PERFECT and rocket fast shifting, so in reality, it would be more. The Tip does it by itself.

    It is only a 0.6 difference and that could just be when the driver changes gears.

    The "only" 0.6 seconds difference is achieved by a PROFESSIONAL driver. The "average Joe" driver would probably shift a tick slowlier.

    Of course shifting makes a difference, I mentioned it in my "shootout" report. Whenever one of the drivers had to shift, he fell back half a car length, it was funny to see that. This is another advantage of the Tip like I mentioned before. Porsche claims that the new Tip changes gears as fast as the fastest manual shifter. I can confirm it.
