Exquisite gardens.  Too many in the States add more and more which disrupts the order and flow with their landscaping.  The snow here in the upper Midwest states will be on the ground for about a week even as temperatures climb into the lower teens.

    Re: Ferrari Roma

Here are a few photo's my PPF installers have sent me. The Roma next to it is Verde British with a Beige interior that is a demo car for another Ferrari dealership.

Congratulations @ISUK...looking lovely. Are you considering PPFing the Dino as well?

    Re: Ferrari Roma

It would go against the grain to PPF the Dino. People expect it on the modern cars but not on the classics.

    ISUK:

The car was delivered to me this morning. I've taken better photo's of it and am very pleased with the colour. I've not had a chance to drive it yet due to other commitments so impressions to follow at some point.

The HMI is pretty simple to operate and work out without reference to the handbook. It all works smoothly and the main dash display is great. The ridiculously expensive CarPlay option is not well thought out however as it only displays in the main instrument panel ahead of the driver and therefore blocks out most of the screen. Hopefully enough feedback from Roma owners will make Ferrari think about switching this function to the tablet on the centre console in a future software update. I guess they have done it like this to suit the SF90 which does not have a central screen but it is really not ideal for a GT car.

Perhaps in photo's - where the outline silhouette appears similar -  but not when you see one in person. The surface treatments and front and rear are very different as is the shape of the glasshouse where it flows into the shoulderline when viewed from the front. The rear styling treatment is very different between the Vantage and Roma when seen in person. The Roma has a very pronounced curvature at the rear that is hard to convey in photo's.

I can see where the comparisons come from as a sports GT is invetably going to eend up with similar outline and proportions in the same way a mid engined sports is. It's a bit like saying you can see a 7 series in an A8. Similar outline shapes, 4 doors etc. To non car interested observers these two large saloons will most likely look largely similar in photo's - apart from the front end treatments. Anyone familar with both models and an interest in cars will instanly be drawn to all the many styling differences on them however.

    Screen Shot 2021-03-06 at 09.14.26.png

The Roma has similar proportions to the 365 GTB Daytona and takes styling cues from other 60's era icons such as the 250 Lusso but these have been combined with new styling elements such as the front and rear light treatments and the modern interpretation of the classic egg crate grill. It is just that it has been so long since Ferrari have produced such a curvacious GT car that the styling influences are compared to Aston I suspect.

Not only is the car perfect but your understanding of the shape and purpose of the design makes it clear you are far from some wealthy collector who dabbles in cars.  Keeping the dream alive!

Haha... get with the paddles!  Fun fact, next year it will be 25 years since Ferrari brought out its first "F1" sequential gearbox, on the 355.

    Re: Ferrari Roma

Very beautiful car, my only gripe with recent Ferrari's, the ride hight always seems so lofty, even on Pista's. They've lost the concept of 'stance' a bit, which a 360 CS (for example) did so nicely.

    Re: Ferrari Roma

I am surprised no one highlight the shifter configuration in the Roma.

Full disclosure, today I walked into my Ferrari dealer for the first time in like 4 years. I wasn't there to see the Roma but something else.

But they have a couple in there and naturally I had to take a look at the real car for the first time.

I have to say, I absolutely love the interior, so high tech and un-Ferrari like. I still can't get over the ugly exterior even seeing it in person. The proportion is nice, but he front end treatment........hmm, definitely can't say I like it.

The Portofino on the other hand looks good front and rear, but the interior is dated next to the Roma.

I thought my Speciale's steering wheel was busy, that's nothing compared with the Roma's steering wheel

But boy, everything inside the Roma's interior came together so nicely. It's just a lovely place to be in.

The more time I spent inside the F8, the more I miss my Speciale.

Are there any real buttons in the Roma interior left?

    Re: Ferrari Roma

The only physical button left in the Roma is for the emergancy hazard warning lights. The styling is all subjective. For me, the Portofino is the worst car Ferrari make with unecessary slashes, vents and ugly front and rear lights.

Yes I do. Even the multifunction 'buttons' on the steering wheel are touch ones.

But that gear selector, boy that thing is a thing of beauty. I absolutely adore it. So clever.

    Very much so!Smiley

I simply still can't get over the Admiral Ackbar look of the front end yet.

But man, that Roma interior is simply superb, and I would be seeing the interior much more than the front end.

Wonder if Ferrari will push out a Roma convertible to replace the Portofino.

    Re: Ferrari Roma

The Roma starts at 195k EUR in Germany (for comparison, a new 992 GT3 with options easily passes this price).

I think it is possible to get a “decent” Roma at around 220k, which is 992 Turbo territory.

    Re: Ferrari Roma

With the Eur at 1.19 usd, it's a rare fair price in Europe!!  220k E = $261k usd, which is only 20 over my build.

Iain has been very helpful optimising my order - just discovered there's a fold down rear seat option [$1600 usd] which allows you to fold  the backs down if you need to carry skiis etc, AND just maybe....... fit.... 4 Labrador Retrievers!!!
