I just talked to some friends working for F. They are confirming Carlos rumor.
F wants to go quickly to the high efficient (regarding earn of money) cars in the F430 segment. First step was to launch the Spider soon after the F430, second will be the CS. Also - they propably need the CS for the Clubsport.
It could be that they bring the CS already this year, latest spring next!

Funny you mention that Lars,
I was on the phone with my Ferrari friend yesterday too, who I'm going to do rally de Paris with this weekend by the way.
And he mentionned some big changes are expected with Ferrari in the next couple of years.
Not as big as Maserati though.
Maser is moving on Porsche, their next model will be a Boxster rival, but I've already written that.
What is sad is that the next coupe project is currently on hold!
Weirdly though, the next Spyder is still go, doesn't make sense to me, but...
As for Ferrari,
F430 is main model but management is very unhappy with 612 model which as you can imagine makes the biggest margin profit wise by far.
What happened with the 612 is that it sold well in the first year, bc it was ordered by Ferrari loyals, but what F wanted with that car is gain new clients, and 612 sales have currently stalled
Seems the clientele for that king of car prefers the Bentley GT or the DB9, shame.

The 430 Challenge car is due, correct? Everyone with whom I've spoken expects them for next year's series. Those of you with inside info please correct me, but wouldn't the safest assumption be that if the car in the pic is in fact a new 430 version, it's the Challenge car?

The loyalists ( mostly old guys ) see the extreme cab-rearward simple,smooth,phallically retro-styled lines of the 612 evoking childhood memories of the Ferrari street cars of the 50s that the European royalty drove . Younger buyers see a Supra .

Maybe they will put out CS very soon after Challenge car, and try to sell as much and earn as much as they canwith f430 lineup, and then release the 575 replacement for higher segment of buyers and after that a new entry model for newest segment of buyers - that should keep the money roolin' in for that IPO

Could be. It's hard to tell from the photo but the mirrors apear to be black. If so that could be carbon fiber like the 04 CS. I have a Rosso Scuderia/ Black CS . I'm trying to decide on the F430 Spider or see what happens with a 430 CS. I might just keep the 360 CS. I love the car.

Ferrari cars, especially the 360/430 and 550/575 models are for fun and leisure, there are three main reasons why the 612 doesn't sell that well - by the way, it's my own humble opinion
:1. it doesn't have the same charming lines or thrilling driving feel than the other two, driving this car for posing reasons is not the same
2. Ferraris are unfortunately not famous for their safety and some essential feature are missing, therefore you should rather opt for the above mentioned alternatives (or a MB CL coupe)
3. high-mileage Ferraris are selling very hard, the highest pricetag (sans the Enzo) doesn't help anything!
