Any number means engine oil is circulating thru engine keeping it alive. Higher numbers at higher revs, lower numbers at idle. Really not an essential instrument since there's iidiot lights and maybe an audible alarm when oil pressure goes too low as a result of no oil or breakdown in oil circuit.
If it stays characteristically lower than manual sez, it's a way to tell engine is in bad shape or guage is innaccurate. Usually the latter since a bad engine will show other symptoms too. Maybe too low or too high indicates wrong viscosity oil has been added at recent oil change.
