    997 S or MY 06 TT S

Hello, new to this board with alot of great information. Have MY 03 Boxster S but looking at either 997 S now or waiting for the 997 TT S when and if it comes out in 05. I would rather have the TT based on the 997 and not the 996. Any words of wisdom. Thanks.

    Re: 997 S or MY 06 TT S

there wont be a 996 TT-S in 06 it is a 1 year production run, so only model year 05.

    ive got one on order,

cant wait for the 997 TT, much less the 997 TT-S

edit, i've also got an 03 boxster S!

    small world eh? haha! cheers

    Re: 997 S or MY 06 TT S

Seems like the dealership I got my Boxster from is a bit clueless regarding the 06 TT.

    Re: 997 S or MY 06 TT S

there wont be a TT at all in MY06

and in MY07, they may or may not be depending on how much of a hurry porsche is in to make a huge profit.

but by MY08, we can expect the 997 TT (mmmm)

    Re: 997 S or MY 06 TT S

Looks like I might have to put in an order for the 05 TT S. Seems like a great price for for a TT S. Since it is based on the 996, do you know if it will have a spare?

    Re: 997 S or MY 06 TT S

    the turbos/ gt2/ gt3 in 996 form have never had a spare.
they come iwth a can of fix-a-flat whcih works fine most of time except the rather rare occaision that you get a big hole in the tire.

but you can probably get a space saver and put it in the front trunk (if you are really that paranoid about being stranded... but honestly, how often to you go to the middle of nowhere, in a TT-S)

the 2005 TT-S is a great 'value' if there is such a thing, in terms of options that it includes.

to option a normal TT to just some of the basic things the TT-S comes with, such as ceramic brakes and X50, would cost over 30k, whereas the TT-S comes with all these for a measily 10k, and also comes with the S on the back - which we know is worht alot more in the future.

    are you in the USA?

most of the first shipment of TT-S is sold, but i know some dealesr with deliveries availible in february 05.

The 996 turbos I've driven had a collapsible spare.

I believe the first modern Porsche without a spare was the Cayenne, and now, of course, the 997.

    Re: 997 S or MY 06 TT S

Thanks for all the great info. Gives me a few things to think about. I really like my Boxster S but made the mistake of driving my friends 03 TT with the X50 option. Great handling and powerful. I know the Turbo S won't have as much power. I would still like to drive a 997 S though to see how it compares.

The Turbo S has exactly the same power as an X50. The 997S won't and is two wheel drive - you can't compare the two. My advice would be to buy the 997S and then get the 997TT (and I plan to practice what I preach )
