    cayenne turbo with 600 hp!!!

    what do you think about that?

    Sportec Cayenne Turbo

    I don't like tuning solutions for porsches. Most of the tuners make the cars ugly! but that cayenne looks not bad and Stage 3 has got lot of power and lot of torque.

    Does any one has more details or experience with sportec?

    I do not have experience with Sportec but there have been some Cayenne related postings by folks that do on other boards.

    I took the CT out yesterday to push the latest DME flash on one of my favorite canyon roads. Working through commuter city traffic at 5,000 feet to mountain switch backs and snow/ice packed gravel roads at 9,000 feet, I hold to what I wrote a while back...if the tuning doesn't address the hesitation issue it is just more wasted power.

    If Porsche is unable to address the hesitation issue, I question how tuners can deal with this moving target and sure don't want to get caught in the finger pointing crossfire.

    Don't get me wrong, the Cayenne is still an incredible machine. It just blows me away that Porsche refuses to make it all it could be.

    ben, almost 12000 km on the speedo and despite a rear hatch lock microswitch failure twice, my Cayenne Turbo is the most reliable Porsche (and even car) I ever had.
    I know that some people had issues but nothing serious I'd say. My car is a MY 2004 build.

    I consider it irresponsible for a Tuner to offer a powerkit with 600 HP without a MANDATORY brake modification. The Cayenne Turbo brake is at it's limit with the factory 450 HP. Now add 150 HP and you get an idea. No thanks,
    And yes, warranty is an issue. Porsche can track down such mods (don't believe what Tuners tell you about "undetectable" software mods or exchanged control units) and they know very well that a lot of customers tune their Turbo engines, so they're actually looking for mods in case of a broken engine, etc.

    Whoever wants to do "cheap" tuning, should do the following: get the Porsche powerkit software from "somewhere", I'm pretty sure it'll be available from Tuners sooner or later. Then, add the larger intercoolers from the powerkit Turbo, they should be available as regular parts. There you go...500 HP for not so much money. It should be even possible to retrofit the suspension mods and maybe even the brake, just using the parts at reduced cost. But I'm not sure if Porsche will "allow" this and getting a technical approval document from Porsche might be difficult too in such a case.

    Reliability vs. Functionality

    Are you mixing reliability and functionality? Maybe I'm lucky but my Cayenne has been very reliable. It is the functionality of a few things that bothers me. More to the point it is the way that Porsche tries block, dismiss and _not_ deal with functionality issues that bothers me.

    As long as dealers, PCNA and Porsche AG don't try to tell me things are 'characteristic', 'by design' and typical...I don't like, but can deal with, things like the PCM randomly rebooting/not playing some CDs, condensation in the head lights, junky NAV data and the remotes only working when I am right next to the truck.

    Beyond the gremlins, some of which have been nailed by my dealer in one visit and others related to Porsche being too cheap, the hesitation issue and the way Porsche _isn't_ dealing with it is my only _real_ concern.

    ...OK so the latest airbag (we didn't mean what we wrote) has got me revved up too.
