    Re: Gumball 3000 schedule

    Number 24 is Gregorio,
Nice guy, if you remember my pics from Rallye de Paris, that's when he broke in his CLK DTM.
He also owns an Enzo, a Stradale, a Bently Azur, etc etc etc and just took delivery of the 1st 430 Spider in France (Monaco).
We have a track outting with the Ferrari club the weekend of 28th of May, I asked him if he would come, and he told me, sure! If I make it out alive from Gumball, I'll be there with my stradale!
Nice guys though, very cool. And si is his co driver Remi.

    Re: Gumball 3000 schedule

I went down to see the cars at the start yesterday. It was a pretty awesome display.

    Re: Gumball 3000 schedule

Likewise... some serious metal there, a F430 in white and yellow with what looked like White Towelling matching interior... in fact there were 430's everywhere... crowd control was awful tho, and at one point I watched in disbelief as a guy in a Carrera GT, denied entry to a road by a policeman, floored the car, back pendulumed out almost taking out 5 bystanders... not good at all. What was funniest was the number of poseurs who turned up to show off their cars even tho they weren't in the event Chris Eubank being a notable member, who decided to 180 his Hummer H2 in the middle of a one way street so his kids could watch the unfolding madness from the comfort of his car. I've never witnessed a 20 point turn before

And for all 997 drivers the Silver Carrera S with a Sinclair C5 (quirky British electric car thing from the 80's for all American peeps) bolted to the roof rack was a particularily funny site

    Re: Gumball 3000 schedule

I took a trip down there yesterday as well (Parked my 987s a fair walk away though as I didnt want it to get an inferiority complex!).

Crow control was really really bad!!! Hardly any police or any attempt to get people out of the way! Hopefully they'll learn from their mistakes for next time as it could have been really good.

Fantastic cars, especially impressed by the sound of the red Enzo starting up! Jesus, what a noise and very loud!!!

Also the new Lancia Stratos (Concept I think) was there although not sure if it ran as I didnt see it. Pretty cool car though!

    Re: Gumball 3000 schedule

Interesting that police here in Croatia just took 10 new "interceptors" car at friday
Is it some kind of preparations or just coincidence ?

I don't think so because they took Mondeo,Accord,Passat,Alfa156 & Vectra. OK equipped with strongest motor they have but....
Today Gumballs passed my friend and Vectra "interceptor" was about 15 sec delayed

Yes, and you can hook up your Sinclair digital watch to it so it is synchronized with an atomic clock via GPS satellite.

I'll have to dig out my old Basic software handbooks.

    Re: Gumball 3000 schedule

Can someone explain me what that Sinclair thing is? I saw it in London on that 997S and I couldn't imagine the purpose of the thing, is it a sort of bike? And why does someone (probaply the owner of the company) take it with him on a journey trough europe.

it's some scurrile elelectric mobile vehicle by british inventor lord sinclair (the man behind the 80's home computer sinclair ZX81, spectrum etc which used to be very popular in UK and europe).

it was produced from 1985 -- but not for long. it was "a commercial disaster" according to this enthuisast site:
    http://www.sinclairc5.com/

to strap it onto a 997 like some kind of dinghy is just british humour IMHO.

I had one of those sinclair computers, it was a success back on the 80's.
